Felicia 1.6 clutch fit 1.3

Featured Replies

Hope you all doing well during this current situation.

Now to the question, will 1.6 mpi clutch components (disk plate and bearing) fit a 1.3 mpi engine set up.

And if so won't the higher clamping force aid the longevity of the new clutch on the lower torque 1.3 engine.

Sad fact my poor felly was involved in a hit and run, drivers wing mirror busted, and I had replaced them both with new ones 2 months prior when I was detailing the car. Even worse there are no heated electric mirrors available on European part sites for whatever reason. So I will have to make do with the some ugly tape.😑

Yes i know skoda parts has it but big auto websites dont

Anyone?

yes skoda parts actually made me doubt if they fit because they show and price different clutch set for 1.3 and 1.6 but i thought they are the same (and confirmed by the parts catalogue)

I can confirm that the 1.6 clutch fits the 1.3 engine: I've been using one for about 10,000 miles now, for better bite for my torque tuned engine. Something is bugging me about the release bearing though: I can't remember which one I used. I'll check for you at the weekend and post which one I used.

Oh thanks a lot I think I am going to change to a 1.6 clutch for longevity as the stock one approches 130.000km and its at the last 15% of its life.

In order to fit the 1.3 MPI, any clutch set should have the same dimensions. I wonder where the "higher clamping force" comes from.

As for the longevity of an aftermarket clutch set, you can barely reach 100,000 km if you drive the car properly. Of course, with good brand clutches.

The genuine skoda clutch will have thicker friction material on it, so will last longest, copies work but don't have to prove how long they can last. I used the 1.6 because it has stronger springs in the plate to cope with greater torque generated by the 1.6 engine, there is no proof that they are actually strong enough for my engines output, just that both torque figures are very similar in my engine and the 1.6 standard engine.

i mean both of them are 190mm and i will be opting for Luk on my other felly that i sold original clutch was replaced at 110.000km but this clutch is proving (knock on wood) to be a beast.
Btw higher clamping force to handle the higher torque of 1.6 engine

Hi. i used my original 1.3 thrust bearing with the 1.6 clutch.

I cannot remember exactly why i did that, it was a long time ago, but i found a nice clean Valeo thrust bearing from my 1.6 clutch kit in my box of spares today.

so i would recommend using the original thrust bearing if it isn't worn out: it would be a real pain if you have to change it again afterwards..

good luck with the job.

Will change everything as I like complete jobs, that includes clutch disk, pressure plate, release bearing and clutch cable (for super smooth operation)

What manufacturer of clutch cable did you find satisfactory? Because, brother, they are all a mess. Poor quality materials, mainly the plastic and 'rubber' components. They lead to increased friction (thus hard operation) very fast. Some cables got elongated other snapped.

On my other felly (sold now) when i chaged the clutch I used VALEO cable and luk clutch, effortless depression and very acurate release, also there were (but now for some reason they ain't) TRW and HELLA cables available.

I didn't use Valeo clutch cables. I will give it a go. Thanks.

Was any reason why?
It seemed and felt good quality although expensive (at around 25 euros locally), the other brands were not available (locally i mean) .
P.s. in my previous post I was referencing to the internet but mine as i said got bought locally nevertheless

No reason in particular. There are many other brands with similar price.

Sachs only have a history of 126 years making automotive parts; what could they possibly know? ;)

Greek shops does not promote Sachs due to their hich prices, instead they make offers for cheaper brands.
