VRS mk4 Sound acutator

Featured Replies

I have a call in with my local service department so hoping to find out if I can do anything about it soon, for now I will make do with pressing Mode and choosing Individual each time

Canton is pretty good, I had a mk3 with no Canton and it was terrible (to be clear before that I had BMWs with Harmon Kardon so like bass in the car and not comparing to base stereos and also a misspent youth putting  multiple 15" subs in RS Turbos and GTIs :) so my expectations are high)

The Canton in the MK4 is good but probably not as good as the 3 series Harmon Kardon from a bass point of view, to be fair that had two small subs under the seats vs the Skoda having it in the spare wheel well so wasn't expecting the same, the way I look at it the standard is lacking a lot (in my opinion) so I would have been disappointed if I had not added the Canton and it will no doubt improve as it is run in and loosens up

That actuator should be easy fix, like i mentioned before. That explains why in my first drive i did not hear a thing when i pushed the car.

Please give your thought on Canton, since i ordered car with it as well and had no chance to listen it before ordering.

I placed order 8th February.

Hi Janis thanks but I think your solution does not work, yes we can select individual mode and turn it off, but the car resets to normal every single time you switch it on - and then only lets you switch to individual once the screen has finally booted up. None of my previous 3 cars all VAG group forgot which mode you were in, so it's incredibly inconvenient.

does anyone know how to make the car start up in individual mode or remember the last drive mode

On several forums it's been said that VAG have made all their cars start in Normal mode to avoid more questions over emissions tweaks.

Thanks for the Canton feedback, any info is pretty thin on the ground on these forums.
Are the mids in the front doors behind the doorcards?
Bass aside (which I’m sure will improve with time) how is the clarity in the cabin?

yeah mids seems to be in the door card in the front

and the rear appear to have a mid and possibly tweeter in the door

Clarity seems very good and from reading up it appears to have a level of noise cancelling to make the cabin quieter from Road noise as well which seems to work quite well when driving along listening to the stereo

Thanks. Appreciate the images too. Really helps.
I’ve got a bit of wait for mine yet, most likely end of April mid May I think, but very much looking forward to it.
yeah it definitely has noise cancelling and maybe an acoustic windscreen? So glad it seems to be effective. 👍🏼
