Importing DAB Logos

Featured Replies

Hi All,

OK, I have an Octavia SE-L First Edition, and aside from the inability to change KM/H to MP/H (and other options on that page) on the satnav, there's another niggle that's starting to bother me. That is the 'missing' DAB logos - or more importantly how to add them. Before anyone says 'ahhh, you can get them from the media.info site' or the 'Skoda update portal', yep, got them, but how do you upload them?

It appears to be a problem on the MIB3 Columbus unit, and maybe a licensing thing? as referenced here:

Can anyone that has a MK IV Octavia confirm that they can upload DAB logos? (I came from a Kodiaq, that just automatically downloaded them) or is this another glitch that needs to be corrected? - or indeed, is this by 'design'

Cheers

/Phil

I've tried to update them as well and haven't been able to do it. It's a minor annoyance, but would be nice to be able to do it.

Problem on the MIB3 we are all waiting for an update to fix the issue :-(

MIB3 units only seem to display the logos transmitted by the radio station in their DAB data stream. And unfortunately many radio stations don't bother :(

So the options are either for the VAG software engineers to let us add our own again, and to tell the radio stations to add them to their transmissions if they want us to listen to them in our cars.

My radio 2 icon shows (automatically without me having to upload it) when I first select it but then quickly goes to blank later during the journey. Bit rubbish but I don't really care about the logo anyway.

Interesting, I've noticed a few stations doing that.  Presumably it's a case of poor signal if the logo is being transmitted as noted above.

Hi,

Just had a call from Skoda UK, responding to my enquiry over this.

Apparently (wait for it) ..... It's the Radio Stations fault. They chose not renew their licence with Skoda (probably VAG Group), so no over the air downloads of Logo's.

Hmmmm

Not sure I believe a word of that 'explanation' - a radio station having to renew a licence with EVERY car manufacturer? I don't think so :wall:

Do logo updates work on other VAG models based on the same platform e.g Golf 8, and on other manufacturers cars?

Lol, don't shoot the messenger! (well hopefully you're not)

I gave the Skoda representative a heavily sarcasm laced reply, which roughly translated from sarcasm to plain English read 'I don't believe a word of that...'

No is the answer to your question same answer from Seat on my MY21 Seat Arona with MIB3 Unit and I have spoken to the mastertech at the garage and same on VW Mark 8 Golf.

I actually had a twitter 'row' with Global who own lots of the independant , Heart, Capital etc etc and they told me it was the Car manufacturers fault ! and it was Globals policy not to broadcast their logos.... why I don't undertstand .....

I also had a twitter exchange and looked at company called RadioDNS (google them) this details all about the Hybrid radio and standards and Audi have partnered with them ... ie the Internet Radio etc we can get in our Cars.  I actually managed to create an XML file following their standards, download 6 different sizes of file for Heart Kent, Heart 80, Heart 90 and put all onto my USB C .... all to find no change !  Its annoying because if I listen to Heart on the internet radio I get a logo and can save it to the presets, if I listen to the DAB same Heart station no logo and when you try to manage logos you can't select anything.  Manage Logos only seems to allow be to delete the logos from those that already have them and not to add anymore.

Basically unless VAG Group decide to change the software to allow us to read the USB C for Logos then I think in all VW, Seat, Skoda platforms its all the same and all broken ....

Step backwards from the MIB2 units in the pre MY21 VAG cars.

how did you get internet radio to work? Mine does nothing

You have to have your phone or WIFI connected to the car .... unless you do that Internet Radio does nothing if you use the built in E-sim.  So if you set up your phone as WIFI hotspot and connect to that then Internet Radio will work

sorry for borrowing this topic...

Anyone knows what is the database that is used for providing podcasts in web radio? The choice of podcasts is rather low and i cant find not even one of which i do like to listen (via google podcasts or apple podcasts).

Otherwise internet radio works fine for me, except for some occasional hickups
