Now I've got Connect Lite working I am quite pleased with it.

One problem is that for an individual trip I get the data:   'Start mileage', 'End mileage', 'Distance', 'Average speed' and 'Maximum speed'.

However the journey doesn't show on the map. All I get is the message. "Sorry, we do not have sufficient GPS data to display your trip in map view".

How do I turn the GPS on?  I can't see it in the settings on my phone.

tom

click settings and active GPS, which is under data protection. GPS is inactive by default.

Thanks, I didn't think of checking the iPhone settings.

I checked my phone settings and the App setting for 'ALLOW LOCATION ACCESS' is "While using the App". I will change it to "Always" and see what happens.

ISTR I did the same when I first fired up the app.  Works a treat now.

I am doing short journeys.

How do I turn the GPS on?  In the settings on the App the GPS  'Recording of GPS data while driving' box is set, it just doesn't seem to do it.   I haven't set the 'GPS for challenges'.

Do you have location permissions set for the app?

As an avid user of connect lite disappointed to find it no longer worked after the most recent update on android. Just goes into setting for name etc and whites. Still connects in the car but nothing seems to work. Anyone else having issues?

I have the same problem. Dose anyone know how to fix?

After changing my Playstore review from 5* to 1* the Skoda Connect Lite App team asked me to contact local support so I've emailed customer services, if they come up with anything I'll post. I've removed and installed a few times and it still ends up in the settings window and whirs. Curiously, while reinstalling it downloads my backups and I can briefly see it is still working recording all my journeys it's just that I can't get to anything. If they can fix it then everything is still there and up to date.

A shame that a perfectly functioning app is updated and stops working but then while the other app My Skoda might be great for new cars for those of driving cars made back end of 2018 the old version was better in that it displayed the service history. When motor manufactures move entirely to electric I hope they get some decent programmers as the programs there are going to be a bit more complex than these.

I fitted the vw one and the app won"t accept the pin

It’s probably looking for a VW car. Same happened to me.

When I used the Skoda software it recognised the VIN Ok.

Just loaded the latest upgrade from the Play Store and all working again. It's been recording all my journeys and it did take a while for them to load I so there was a bit of whirring on the journeys page but all came good.

Thanks. I've just downloaded the update (4.10.8) which has just become available from Play Store - all working again! Thanks once again for your help.

Does anyone know how to connect a second Skoda to connect lite?

First, I don't know, this is just a guess.

When you open the App on your phone tap the 'Menu" (three green lines at the top left).

Scroll down to the bottom of the list on the next screen (the one with 'Trips, Statistics etc in bold).  At the bottom in a small normal font is 'Settings'. When you tap this one of the options that comes up is 'New Dataplug' 'Pair new Dataplug'.

Let us know how you get on.

Yes that's what I thought. Just tried it today as Ive just got the data plug. It works! You don't share the points though and I'm not sure if I need to change car every time, hopefully not.Screenshot_20210313-133655.thumb.png.f65fdfc84317f24f4a0520e7654bf85e.png

Connect Lite appears to be working better and now the 'Trips' are showing the routes on the map.

However when I zoom in the routes show in straight lines and don't follow the curves of the roads.

Is this a setting or is it one of those 'They all do that Sir' situations.

tom

If I zoom right in then I can see it is a lot of straight lines but enough of them that they follow the curves. It's just connecting the gps points that are recorded so depending how often your phone is recording these points depends how many lines so not many points might mean they're not very curvy.

It’s not accurate enough to find your car in a car park.

When I park my car at home, 30 yards from the road it shows the address as a totally different street (and postcode!).

tom

Maybe something on the phone mine is totally accurate, as a walker and user of the ordnance survey app don't think it's ever more than a few feet out. There used to be a setting for accuracy on Android but more it's either on or off.

The normal mapping on my iPhone is accurate, it's the Connect Lite that records trips in straight lines and doesn't know where I live.

Advice for the uninitiated please folks....if I buy a dataplug and download Connect Lite to my smartphone, will I still need an internet connection? I understand the two devices connect via bluetooth, but does an active internet connection come into play at any time?

It does use the connection on your phone, it uploads all the backup data somewhere probably to the Skoda account so if you remove and reinstall it all gets reloaded. Ialso think it sends all the data about your car back to VAG, suspect its anonymous but no doubt all that data must tell them something about their engines. I haven't noticed it using massive amount s of data in two weeks it's used 14 mb.

Thanks for the reply SurreySlowCoach, just need to buy a dataplug now and figure out the complexities of connecting to the internet in my car!

Check around for prices for the Dataplug. They can vary from around £6 to £40.

My car is MY2019 without any internet connection. The car talks to the phone via Bluetooth. When the car needs to talk to Skoda (like when first configuring) I assume it does it via the phone.

tom

Thanks for replying Sanqhar. Yes, I've noticed tha price variation too! So are you saying the car talks to the phone all the time by bluetooth (when in range) ?
