I ordered my car on 3rd July 2021. Moon White, Octavia vRS 2.0 TSI Estate, DSG, Winter Pack, Rear View Parking Camera, Dynamic Chassis Control, space Saver Spare, Blind Spot Detection, Park Assist, Boot & Cargo Program, Variable Boot Floor, Net Partition, Head Up Display; basically with most options ticked other than the glass roof and annoying lane assist function!

I was initially given a build week 38, which came and went! This was then updated in early November to week 4 2022 and again on 27th November 2021, to a build week of 11 2022! Hopefully this won't be changed again, however who knows!!!

That last dealer update was whilst ordering the wife's replacement car, a Scala Monte Carlo 1.0 TSI DSG in Moon White (similar options to my car), so I had a good long chat with the dealer principal. I was shown the screen of order dates and build weeks and there was no correlation what so ever! He pointed out that a car showing week 11 2022, had a message on the screen that it was already stage 4 and in the UK! All he could think, was that someone had ordered the same spec and had just cancelled the order or accepted an earlier car of a similar spec! I've actually been offered two cars with lesser spec to my own, back in November, so I know it can happen!

With regard to the sudden change from week 4 to week 11, the dealer stated that they had been told by Skoda; that build week 2 to week 10 are being utilised to finish cars on layup in the yard.

That sounds like a reasonable explanation and fair to me! I'd be livid if one of them was my car!

...........I was also informed that any car order not accepted by Skoda before 1st December 2021 would be of the reduced spec, higher price etc....

Looking at the delete list that they had, it was items like heated windscreens, rear window winders, multi zone aircon, electric seats, heads up displays, kick to open boot etc that would be removed! So annoying, however not the end of the world!

i have read so many different stories off dealers i dont believe a word off them or skoda.it is disgrace and who are the ones who suffer?yes the customer.i ordered my 4x4 vrs dsg diesel estate on the   20 may told i would have it 24 september.on my 9th push back deliver expected 04/03/2022 just shy of 10 months but not confirmed.

The most less likely scenario is that an accident happened during transport and it got a delay because of it.  And hopefully not a total loss car.

In both scenarios (minor/major accident during transport) I would expect Skoda to resolve the issue by replacing the car, not repairing it.

I am paying a lot of money for the car and I am not accepting a repaired junk as a good to go car. Might as well buy pre-owned one with less mileage and same configuration. The price would be less and probably the car wouldn't have a repair history.

I ordered back at the start of October with a provisional delivery date of March '22. Had an email from my dealership last week that delivery is now expected September '22 so 11 months from order to expected delivery.

That's for a VRS IV with wireless charging, park assist and winter pack 2.

This is similar to my story.

On 1st October 21 at the Dealers in Warrington, I ordered - VRS iV Hatch in Black with Winter Pack, Rear-view Camera and Blind Spot detection.

At the time of Order 01/10/2021, the dealer was hoping for around the end of April delivery (but he did mention most models will be around 12 months).

Heard nothing for a Month so I emailed the dealer at the end of October, but he had no news.

7th December 21 finally had an email from the Dealer  saying :-

"Just checking in with an update for you. Your order has been accepted by the factory but hasn’t been given a build week as of yet. I will let you know when the status changes."

I will contact him again in the new year when the Factory and everything starts up again and try to get an update.

I would relax and forget the car for good 4 months with that message. Had that since May, still the same.

I have no idea how they handle such things honestly. A friend of mine did have a transport dent on his new car but the dealer repaired it (dent and scratch).  But a big accident i have no idea how they handle it.

Going by my experience, the build date can be given and then taken away! The phrase that my dealer used, was that my latest build week had been "accepted at the factory" and has a confirmed Build slot!

I hope so, however I'm not holding my breath!

I actually feel sorry for the decent car dealers out there. I've known the team at my dealer for many years and live around the corner to the sales manager. I always get a good deal and really well looked after. They are genuinely tearing there hair out with the lack of information from Skoda UK.

yes i ordered may and last update for delivery was 04/03/2022 so join the rest of us spitting feathers

@Jugaroo  You might hope or expect a new car and a not repaired one, but that is not how it is very often.

Worse is when one is damaged after it arrives at a Dealership and repairs are carried out and no record kept & someone has a paint claim and they are told the car has not a factory paint thickness.

..................

Occasionally cars arrive in the UK off a ship and go MIA for a period of time.

the clue comes when the In-transit  mode was reset and then arrives at the dealers and gets re-set again.

When the ECU is investigated the miles covered since manufacture can be seen.

They are off to be 'Retested' to see that they meet the WLTP.

More often these are VW Group vehicles because they are proven to be the type that will stretch the truth.

Hi Mate,

Was this at Lightcliffe Warrington? Only ask as iv ordered pretty much the same car minus the blindspot detection on 13th October so might give me hope of an update soonish haha!

Just received a call from the sales rep (after I sent her an email earlier today). She said that the chip situation is not the best, but that it's somewhat better and that the cars have started coming in. I ordered mine beginning of september, initially quoted july/august delivery, now she told me it could be as early as april/may. Normally I would be excited with the news, however since I've been following this thread, I'm not holding my breath. We will see. The good news is that I wasn't pressuring or anything, just wanted to wish her well for the holidays and to check if there are some news from the factory. Nothing in it for her to lie and give me a sooner date since I've already excepted my fate and almost a year long wait.

Yes, I have read about the fact that the cars are coming off ships in UK and it imposes a bigger risk of damage during the shipment.

However, in Romania they are arriving by train.

I'm going to wait until the factory resumes it's work and 2-3 more days after. If the car isn't reaching the customs until then, I will ask my dealer if he can engage someone from factory/shipments dept to provide at least some info about the whereabouts of the car. :)

I just hope it remained somewhere in Nymburk and awaited for additional carriages from Kvasiny on it's way to Romania through Slovakia and Hungary.

Damage is more likely as they go on and off road transporters.

Then carelessness as the vehicle is off the transporter, signed off at dealers as checked and no damaged then happens at pounds / dealerships.

This is where there can become 'no official recording of damage'  as it is dealt with on the QT.

Always take pictures of the car before driving off so you can have proof it was there before you took off if you missed it the first time.

Congratulations on the new arrival. Just in time for New Year too. Happy New Year! 😁👍

Nice one! Mine was ordered at same time and was told it was at Emden awaiting shipping 2 weeks ago so hopefully here soon.

looks good in silver,  silver rare on a new car nowadays,  compared to 6 or 7 years ago when every 2nd car was silver.

curious though, why register a new car on 31 december 2021, when 24 hrs later you can have a 2022 registered car which will be worth more come the time to sell

Good point - I secured great finance which was dependent on a 2021 completion. Also, the chaotic impact of electrification on the market, allied to the plan to keep it for some years, means that registering it in late 2021 will cost me little in real terms over my planned ownership period.

I'm not overly worried about the whole situation, however I'm also worried about how it's going with the overly woke climate brigade. I currently have a Mini Clubman JCWbl with 59k on the clock, that owes me nothing and I'm keeping for a while longer whilst running the new one in (or a bit longer! 😁). No doubt I'll end up on EV, however the maximum milage per charge isn't sufficient at the moment for my needs! Even so, I'm keeping this one until it's a Musium piece, so I'll probably be the oldest rebel in town!!! 😁🤣🤣🤣

Yep … the whole reason I went manual after x5 DSGs… gotta plan for the end of the ICE world

I'm going DSG as due to an injury, I can't drive manual or hard suspension for any distance. I need a Semi-automatic for day to day and a sophisticated suspension for long distance driving, hence the DCC. I'm keeping the Mini to remind me what real driving was! I wish I'd kept my 1275 GT back in the day! 😇😁

Was that the 0% PCP Finance they were offering back in July and had to take delivery by 31st December? As mine is on that deal and is still in Germany awaiting shipment. My dealer has told me the 0% deal will be honoured. Hope so!
