  • Well 13.5 months waiting and I finally collected my Octy Estate vRS yesterday. I couldn't be happier  👍😀

  • After 13 months waiting my SEL iV Plug in Hybrid arrived.    All seems good with it so far, just to understand some of the infotainment features!

  • Just took delivery of mine but had to cancel some of the optional extras

I am looking forwards to getting the facelift model as well 😆

I'm the same. I was told originally July. I'm hopeful for this time next year. Given the mess, I'll probably get the facelift.

Why didn't I order at the same time as the others in the family!

Why? If there a hundred people inline for cars, but parts can't be sourced for the first ten, then they will build number 11, 12 and so on until the parts for the first 10 arrive.

Both statements can be true at the same time. I don't know why people find it hard to understand.

Simple, because they are, which is known from many examples on this forum, but let us go with my personal experience, where I have all info. My car is in "line" from end of August. My cooworkers car, ordered end of October, is in the garage below me. He has same extras I have ordered and some others (his is wagon). He is driving the car and I am reading comments on this forum like an idiot. That is why.

Same, same... Also ordere in August like we talked about.

Because of the fire i know there will be huge delays. Probably the ''military operation'' in Ukrain also has an impact on delays.

I was looking into a used Seat Leon, 2021 May, with similar spects to my Škoda (dsg, 1.5 etsi, aac,...), and it was 2000€ more expensive than the offer for my NEW Škoda Octavia... It's not worth paying 2k€ more for a used car....

The Ukraine situation is just another excuse. If anything, this should have positive impact on delays, at least for already built cars waiting for parts, as now they do not need to alocate additional parts (chips) for Ukraine and Russia. All Skoda says is just marketing jibber-jabber and you don't have to be very clever to know that.

I guess they are generally saying that it affects. But the real deal for Octavia is the door panel fire. Without that i'm guessing mine would be on transport now.

Why shouldn't they continue to build cars? At least when the relevant parts become available they can be added to the part built vehicles quickly and the order completed.

If they stop production altogether then everyone ends up waiting even longer and the list will grow exponentially.

After looking at other manufacturers a lot are suffering from similar issues especially for popular or desirable models.

in my world you put your order in and when they come available you get it.yet in the world skoda lives in they dont take this into account and why is that.?what i mean is why is that cars that are built and awaiting parts ie micro chips in my case dont get priority over cars that are not built?surly they should put the parts into cars already built before building more cars.

do you know for sure that it's only microchips that is holding things up ?

maybe it needs door panels, which they dont have due to the fire

if they dont have door panels both part finished and future builds are never gonna get completed

no my car is complete apart from micro chips and that is why i am ranting on about it.i just cannot understand skodas stance on letting cars standing in a field and are still building cars.if there is spares for cars getting made why are cars built awaiting parts for?

This was a thing even before the whole door panel fiasco.

Yep, seems so, thousands of unfinished cars, stored everywhere, waiting. Mine is supposedly due in May, but have no other info (as some of you have it in more details).

How do you know that the cars still being built are also not being finished.

I think special teams are needed to be formed to go and work on the stored cars, as obviously there is not normally a need, and if they want to build current cars they can’t just take staff of the production line.   Actually if fire at door panel supplier stops the production line, there is possibility that the stored cars can be completed quicker as more staff and parts may be available.

Ordered in beginning of November, 1.5TSI manual Style with extra matrix lights, heated seats. Dealer told me at least 8 months now said it may be delayed more due to chip shortage and fire at factory. Chip shortage`s about to get worse as Ukraine supplies about 70% of world neon which is critical for chip production. Also, Ukraine makes a lot of harnesses for VW Group and BMW...I wonder if we should indeed get a car that was built on patches and stood somewhere for quite some time, not sure how reliable its going to be when built outside of normal production process and with big gaps inbetween sessions.

Which microchips in which modules?

Not all modules in the cars use the same microchips, so it's very probable that some modules can be fitted to cars because all the microchips are available for them but other modules cannot be built by the suppliers. So depending on the specification and the options some cars can be fully built, some part built and some maybe not even worth starting to build if the microchips missing are in a critical assembly (e.g. engine, DSG, etc.).

i have not said cars are still getting built are also not being finished.can i ask why cars are that are built but awaiting parts {not door panel}.are not completed first?like most  things that have a waiting list you just have have to wait your turn, then can i ask why are people who order there cars many months  after people get there cars sooner?

Do you think it has something to do with the price, as the prices have gone up 3 times already since my order in August? That they tend to finish cars that will bring more money first? I don’t know, just trying to find some sense in all this mess.
And they keep selling cars…

Nope, its due to Covid, Chip Shortages, and the war in Ukraine.. weirdly enough this has an impact.. patience

Well obviously I’m aware of the chip shortages (even before placing the order)🙄 I was just trying to find an explanation for the unusual production order with ppl receiving their cars even if they ordered later.

I can tell you my coworkers car, which was made in less than 4 months was ordered with higher price (end of october). Does this confirm your theory? No. Does it make it plausible. Yes.

Exactly your case I had in mind. Were you contacted by the dealer in December to remove some features that are stalling the production?

No. I asked him multiple times, if I can remove something to get the car faster and he said no, that it doesn't matter.

Ok, I was asked but declined. Apparently the thing stalling the production was my premium safety package with blind spot detection, but I also have dsg. Didn’t want to change anything as it wouldn’t guarantee to have my car sooner.
