Best fuse for hard wired dashcam?

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me which fuse is best to run my dashcam off please? I will be using a battery pack with it that will piggy back off it. Thanks.

On the Octavia Mk 4? You just use the USB socket by the rear view mirror

Thanks but It needs to be hardwired into a 15 amp fuse. That’s the battery pack. Then the dashcam goes into the battery pack. It has to be a switched live.

What dashcam do you have?

Think ware f770 with a BlackVue battery pack. Had it in 3 cars now all hardwired.

The USB c won't give power when the ignition is off so no good for those that want parking modes etc.

Most people use the rear wiper fuse I think.

Thanks. Will be a good few months before I get my car so plenty of time to find out. I wonder if the 12v socket in the boot stays on or goes off. I could also use that fuse I guess.

Rear wiper won't be permanent live. I'm sure there will be one though.

Hi. I don’t want permanent live. I want one that switches off. I will go with the wiper if it’s the rights amps. It needs to switch off then the battery pack takes over for the parking power.

I have mine hardwired to the rear wiper fuse, even though I don't have a battery pack connected. Not sure of the amps, though, but it works flawlessly.

When my son got a superb he put his travel fridge in the boot and used the 12 volt plug.it worked fine until he tried starting it up the morning.yes a flat battery so it must be live all of the time when plugged in.

12V socket in the boot is live all the time on the Octavia Mk4 SE FE I’m driving; and I use the USB-C socket near the mirror for the dashcam (which is NOT live with the ignition off).
