I doubt this unit supports 9.2 screen, but maybe I am wrong.

The part that has arrived is the smaller, I believe 8inch screen. From reading the 9.2 required the MIB3 dvd drive.

yep, but what I meant was your other day comment on sellers told you it would support 9.2 screens too.

Well. I have to say. That went a lot smoother than expected and looks like everything working. Car play is there anyway! And just lifts the look of the whole interior.

even has an estate when in car mode.

thankfully all the reading I did on here paid off, knowing where to trim plugs etc in advance, how to remove the A/C control etc. So thank you all.

now to decide what’s next!

Looks very nice indeed! Good for you.

You probably need to retrieve your car original equipment settings back via VCDS.

What do you mean original equipment settings?

Your car has some specific features, like high beam assist, from assist, driver assist etc, which you can modify their setting in the infotainment. Because, your new infotainment comes from another car those features may vary, so you need to adapt them back to your car features.

Back again!

So my reversing camera has just arrived,  Just the cheap one from aliexpress.

Ive read through a few posts on here about it, Run the cable, cut the RCA, add terminals and wire to 6/12 on the Blue plug.

However, when I cut the RCA plug off, theres 3 cables.  so, Im assuming one is + and 1 is - from the camera video feed, but what is the 3rd? and is it needed?  Ive seen reverse signal feed mentioned but not sure if that applies here.

Im just waiting on my terminals to arrive then ill be fitting.

Id love to cut the bootlid to fit the larger handle, but this will have to do for now.

Hi, everyone! Just like the posts original author, I am a proud and happy owner of a 2015 Škoda Octavia III RS. Love the car, it looks amazing, drives smoothly etc., but it has one problem - mib1. I have the MIB1 system with Columbus radio and Canton audio system.  As it has the Mib1, I do not have Carplay, but I really want it. I have read through a lot of posts that it is possible to swap the mib1 to mib2 but than some features may be lost, or because of Canton I do have to buy a new amplifier.

All in all I do not understand what to do. I have not been to my local dealer, but I assume the price they will ask me for the swap will be .... huge.

Here I ask for your help - just like the author of this post changed his system, I would like to know - is it possible to change my mib1 to mib2 or mib2.5 and keep all the features, like Canton audio and get the Carplay feature.

Hope someone will help me. :)

If you have canton then you’ll need the screen the stereo and the canton amp all with CP removed. That will be a costly exercise

If I  got you right, that  these should do the trick, right?

Screen - https://www.ebay.com/itm/233882699823?hash=item36747ec82f:g:DZcAAOSwYNtfC1fp

MIB2 - https://www.ebay.com/itm/233859414808?hash=item36731b7b18:g:GvIAAOSwh1pgAGbf

Canton Amp - https://www.ebay.com/itm/133365751829?hash=item1f0d37e015:g:yCgAAOSwIlBec56e

If these parts fit, that I need extra coding, right?

And what do you mean CP removed?

CP = Component Protection.

When some modules (including the MIB2 and the Canton Amp) are installed in a different car they will only partially work - this is an anti-theft measure implemented by VAG and removing CP needs either the units to be hacked or a diagnostic tool with access to the corporate servers (not something that VCDS, OBD11, etc.) can do.

Thanks for the explanation.

So this means I still have to get it touch with my local dealer. Great, will do.

The items that I listed, what do you think, they go together?

As well, has anybody tried this thing - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Wireless-CarPlay-SKODA-MIB-1-MIB-2-RAPID-Navigation-Reverse-Camera-Retrofit/183858199387?epid=6026964508&hash=item2acecd7b5b:g:cX8AAOSwqYxdD0tn

They say it works for MIB1 as well.

... or an independent specialist garage who has a Fazit connection to the VAG servers.

If you have Columbus then you can use the original screen for mib2. 2.5 needs a later screen.

Great, thanks!
So I have to get only the mib2 and amp. 😄

Can someone briefly explain the difference between MIB 2 and 2.5?

Afternoon all.  Finally got a bit of time to look at this, having ordered the wrong camera and having to wait for the new one to arrive (DUH)

So ive managed to get the cabling run up the bootlid and down the car (thanks to @SashaGrace previous posts, Got it run in on my lunchtime today.  Tomorrow Im intending on fitting the new handle, wiring and refitting the last piece of boot trim.

My question is though, around the red wire thats sticking out of the RCA, once the RCA is cut off it leaves 3 wires.  Red, black and another colour.  Is it required?  Do I assume that red and black are +vs and -ve and just wire them to the block on the back of there stereo?  and if so, does it matter which way round they are fitted?  I read on a post on here what positions theyre in, ill have to find it and refresh myself before tomorrow.

Also, Does anyone know what colours +ve and -ve to the wiper motor are? as im going to pick power from the camera from here, by just stripping back and joining in.

Thanks for the help!

- is brown and + should be black/violet if I remember well. I dont know what camera do you have, but I cut the RCA and there were 2 wires - black and white, which provided the video signal from RVC via blue connector in head unit. Power connection is from wiper in this case.

All wiring sorted except for the back of the HU,  Every time i try and push the pins home in the blue connector they bend, broken a couple now, and think Ive got one stuck in the connector.  Anyone with any experience any hints for me?

Got an image of your connector?

I assume it's this connecter and style:

image.png.9def9e4715a81d956e820d70544130e2.png

You need to 'unlock' it first. There are two flaps that release, one on each side. I've marked one side up in red and I tend to unlock it using a tiny flatblade and sticking it in around the orange arrow.

The pin should slide in with very little effort and 'click' into place :)

Once it's unlocked you should be able to clear our any broken bits too.

Ah, This I did not know.  Any ideas how you release the blue clip from the black holder?

I had been assuming they just pushed in, but this explains it now.......

Thank you!

It just needs unclipping, it should slide out to the rear with little effort. I've circled the clip here, again a small flat blade to move the clip down works well:

Perfect. Thank you. All wired and plugged, but no rear view. I’m assuming it needs coded in at this point, but I can’t seem to find an option in Carista to enable it. Will have to look again later. At least the trunk handle still works for now.
