SW version on reporting bugs

AFAIK no. Apparently only dealers have option to download firmware directly to USB and initiate update. OTA upgrades can be related to the region also. Maybe you version is the latest version for Israel.

Thanks a lot my friend @omadon

Something has been puzzling/worrying me about the infotainment screenshots showing software versions in this thread ....   Isn't this just the software version of the infotainment NOT the ot

Hi. I'm from Belarus.

I have a issue with subwoofer. When I try to change volume level specially for subwoofer nothing happen. Asked service for that problem - they tried to reconfigure the system but said need wait for SW updates.

Hope Russian language is not a problem to understand which SW version I have.

Hi @coxa

Were you listening to the radio when you try to set the subwoofer? Try with some music over USB port or over bluetooth and change the subwoofer setting again if you notice any difference.

Hi @TheUltraRunner
I tried with radio, Bluetooth and Android Auto via USB. Subwoofer not working. I noticed only that music quality via USB is much better than thru Bluetooth. Is any body know which Bluetooth codecs Skoda support at the moment?

Just got my car back from its second visit to the dealership.  Issues with not being able to save settings in infotainment system. Had the 1803 update, and in the dealers own words " it hasn't made a blind bit of difference ". Called Skoda customer services and now awaiting a call back.  Its a company car, and the MD simply said they either fix it or we send it back

Thanks for the update of the new software.  When you say not saving settings.  Which ones are you referring too?  As far as I’m aware the system is badly designed and so by default doesn’t save a lot of settings such as the last driving mode, certain assist features.  So unless there’s a rethink by Skoda, it’s not a case of not working, it was never there in the first place.  Which is frustrating I agree.

Anybody else have a system info which has unknown in there?

I had an issue with saving setting until i created a new user and promote this user as "primary user". Before, it was a "guest" user logged in the infotainment and after each car restart, settings went to default. It could be that "saving settings" is related to the online services and if skoda connect is not working that could be a source of your issues.

Mine does that sometimes, quite intermittently!

Thanks...I see you posted a while ago showing the same as the one I posted.  This is from the replacement car that has been offered to me and it worries me.  I've asked Skoda UK to tell me why and do they know if this version has shown to have problems.  This car was built in November 2020.  Have you had a smooth experience or have you had infotainment issues?

Congrats!  Don't forget to post a picture in the picture thread. ;)

What's really interesting to me is that your car has the same HW version as mine. Although it was build half a year later.

Maybe we think wrong and last/end letter is not HW version? Currently all is working fast and fine.. maybe only problem which I have is how to connect car to my home UniFi network.. all other things are working..

That's funny as mine was reporting this on the weekend:

DU/CPH: H44
DU/CPS: 2088

But has also just switched to "Unknown" in the last few days.

It's not causing any issues so I'll keep an eye on it to see if the real versions return in the future.

Hi,

I ordered an Octavia IV and currently I am waiting for delivery. Unfortunatelly I haven't read the forums and just now learned that there are serious issues with the infotainment system.

So now my confidence is shaken and think that I did a wrong decision ordering the Octavia. Searching through different forums I learned that the Octavias, built in 2021, are equipped with a newer hardware and has the latest

software version (1803). Is this new software reliable and works flawlessly, or does it also have glitches, or issues?

With this latest software is it possible to disable permanently the driving assistances, or do I have to set them every time I start the engine?

I'm thinking about to cancel my order, even if I lost the deposit, but I don't want an unreliable, or sometimes dangerous car. So please share your experiences about the new software version.

Thanks

I can understand that you have lost confidence - but in general, the later built cars are not so bad as the early builds. And remember, most people only post on forums like these if they have problems with their car - so you will get a negative bias.

I have been driving a late 2020 Octavia whilst my own (early-mid 2020) is at the dealer awaiting a fix from Skoda UK. This loan car has been faultless for the 2 months (2500+ miles/ 4000+ Km) I have been driving it. A fix for mine is due later this month and I hope it will sort the issues with it. Several of the issues are UK (or right hand drive or miles (not Kms)) specific such as speed limit signs recognised in Km not miles, sometimes!

For the assist systems, they cannot be permanently disabled, which is a frustration for some - all down to personal choice. The exception is the Cruise Control / Speed Limiter which is configurable. I don’t think this will change with the latest software version. There is a button on the steering wheel to give quick access to control the assist systems whilst driving so, for example, the Lane Assist can be disabled - but once you restart the car it is enabled again.

The Octavia is a great car to drive and a ‘pleasant place to be’ which is why I am waiting for the fix - I want my car and am frustrated, but I am giving Skoda the opportunity to fix the issues. I hope this helps you to relax and look forward to your new car…

My 1.0 e-Tec has been largely fine, two reboots of the entertainment system so far and that’s it - The screen went blank for 2 seconds and then came straight back on.
Seems I’ve been lucky compared to others though.

Currently on 1803, HW version E. Build month: May 2021.

Bug (happened once):

Once there was internet connection (WAN) error for 4 hours, resolved itself.

Bug which I can reproduce:

Using Android Auto via WiFi (Android 11, Galaxy Note 10+) and play music from YouTube music and if I drive car backward and camera and aprox. sensors are activated and then after going forward and aprox. sensors are shutdown then music is constantly up / down as it was losing signal.

Solution:

Disable Wifi and BT on inf. system and enable it back.

But this do not happen everytime.

I will report this to Škoda, but must make video so that there will be visual prof..

For anyone considering the Octy, even though i have probs with the SW , i would say go for it. VW Golf has the same problems and they are installing 1803 across their range. I had 1803 installed on Friday and all seems fine.

I love my VRS and couldn't think of another car in this segment that i would want. Especially as mine is in Meteor grey and that has now been discontinued. I think i may have the only one in saloon in that colour up here in Glasgow. I

As other suggested, go for it. My VRS was build in November and I'm having almost zero issues. Before your car will be delivered (current waiting time is between 4 and 6 months), there will be even more updates which should eliminate the remaining issues.

  • Author

I agree.. I am also very happy with car even if I do not have VRS (estate with other additional gadgets..)..

Problems which currently are is SW and only SW related and can all be solved via FW update - I do not see any HW issue at all..

I doubt that they would not resolve SW issues as this affect not only Škoda but complete VAG group brand of current car generation..

Edited by sdolenec

Also, today there was a show on German TV about the SW issues in the VAG group. I hope this will push them to fix the issues soon.

Like others here, I absolutely love driving my vrs - especially on a holiday we've just returned from in the Scottish Highlands where the roads are a joy to drive on, but I am constantly irritated by software bugs and design issues.  Ignoring the design issues like not remembering driving mode, just on that holiday I had to re-boot the infotainment system three times, and on one occasion it lost my sign-in so I was driving in guest mode until it would let me log back in - perhaps because the car was out of range of the phone network (btw does anyone know which network they use in the UK?).

So, after reading all the above and some other threads, I'm still a little confused about what updates are OTA and what have to be done by a dealer, and whether it would be worth my booking the car in to have them install any updates.  I seem to be on 1788 and there don't appear to be any OTA updates available, so presumably the 1803 that has been referred to must be a dealer-only update - or is it not compatible with my hardware level?  If my car can take 1803 am I likely to find the system to be more stable after this update?

I'm attaching my System Information, which looks very similar to that of some other contributors here.
