Been plodding on with this ....man, it's sapped my enthusiasm. It's been a battle every step of the way.

Typical, the last bolt on the caliper carrier wouldn't budget and rounded the hex fitting. Ended up welding a nut on to it and eventually got it out. One of the other threads needed retapping

  • Had a catch up with a fellow enthusiast yesterday. The work he has put into his ex Thames Valley police Omega to bring it back to spec is outstanding.

  • I'm still on the middle of refreshing the suspension, but been trying to get some use out of the car while the weather is good. It looks ok from 10ft after throwing a bucket of water over it.

  • It's mot time again. Just a quick wash down and fingers crossed it passes.

Marked up the mounting brackets so I could get them back in the same position. Just light surface rust / dirt. Picture makes it look worse. Wad very solid

For some reason I assumed the new rear hubs came with stub axles, but they never. Luckily I hadn't binned the old axle, so I retrieved these, cleaned them up and fitted new sensors. Getting the old sensors out was a mission. In the end I had to burn the plastic casing and smash them out. This would gave been impossible to do on the car.

I couldn't undo this brake pipe nut. I tried heat but being right next to the fuel tank i had to stop. I did put a metal shield between, but it was far too risky. I ended up rounding the nut, so I cut the mounting bracket, gripped the nut and then could twist off tge old brake flexi hose. I really should have sectioned in a new bit if hard brake line, but it's all tucked behind the fuel tank, and I was well fed up by now. I think I may regret this later

Fitted the brake lines that sit onto of the axle, using new clips. I gave them a coat of clear wax as they are notorious for rusting.
