Trip Planner - Send to Vehicle issue

Featured Replies

Hi all. Picked up my new Skoda Karoq (1.5 TSI SEL) in January, and am loving it so far.

One minor issue I have is receiving a planned trip sent from the My Skoda app. The message in the app says it's been sent, and I should download it in 'Skoda Connect' on the infotainment system. However, I don't have a Skoda Connect icon. I've searched the Nav system (Amundsen) but don't see it there.

Can anybody advise me on how I can retrieve it.

Thank you.

I believe the Skoda Connect icon is in the main menu rather than the nav system, but I've also seen a statement on the Skoda Connect Portal website saying this function isn't available yet.

Thanks for your reply Chris.

I don't have the Skoda Connect icon in the main menu. I've just used the Skoda Connect  Portal to plan a trip and send to the car. It says it has been sent. I'll check tomorrow to see if the car has received it.

Thanks again for your help.

All the best,

Steve.

This has been raised on a parallel thread - it is a 'feature' coming soon! (however Skoda define soon)

Hi, new to this site. I have shiny new Octavia VRS estate but also have an issue with Trip planner

All other remote options are working ( lock/unlock etc) but trips created using the myskoda app or the skoda connect online account are not transferring to the car. According to the online video, they are supposed to pop up when you start the car up and log in to your primary user account. I was also advised to check in the shop if destination services was showing as licensed, but this isn't showing up. SO far no help from customer services on this either. I'm beginning to wonder of destination import is actually 'live ' in the UK???. May have to take it back to the dealer for a software check but if anyone out there has a solution I'd appreciate it . thanks

Before responding, may I ask what the Satnav is? Columbus or Amundsen? Many issues with V3 versions, but the model will help in formulating my experiences (if applicable).

Hi Stewart

Thanks for the reply. It's the Columbus version I believe. This is a brand new vrs and from what I've experienced so far, neither the dealership nor the customer service team seem to have the answer. I was wondering if it's a software/hardware issue since the car is simply not storing or retaining any data such as  home/work address or previous destinations even when inputted into the car directly

Hi.

I have no direct experience of the V3 Columbus (My 3 year old V2 works flawlessly), but if it is anything like a 'superior' version of the Amundsen, we have all found on the latest version;

1. Connect App (Or connect Via the web) fails to send destinations /routes - or rather it send it but the vehicle never receives the data. Buried in the web portal is a message saying 'coming soon' for this function. Amazing as it was announced with great fanfare LAST JUNE 2020! The App reports no errors but when I sent a destination via the Connect Web portal I did eventually get a failure message on sending.

2. With your phone connected via bluetooth, try selecting a destination from the contacts. On the Amundsen V3 it reports 'Invalid Format'. This also works fine on my 3 year old Columbus.

I would get the garage to visually see the issue so that it is formally logged with Skoda - otherwise it will get lost. I ended up on point 2 above taking a short video clearly demonstrating the failure.

I am afraid I have no direct experience with the V3 Columbus but am sure someone will respond.

Many thanks.sir! I will get the car booked in with the dealer but everything suggests that skoda have launched a product that is not quite fit for purpose

Update:

My system had an automatic update a couple of days ago, and now this function appears to be working 👍

Hi . Thank you for your reply. I am also(finally) getting trips sent to my car. However nothing that I send is being stored. So every journey is starting with a totally blank history..any ideas anyone?

Interesting.  No update yet for my system.

Was this sent from the Connect App or the Web Connect via a browser?

How did the destination appear? Was there an online menu option?

Thanks.

I would have hoped it would store destinations in a similar way to my older which had an Online Destinations option in the list with favourites,  recent  etc.

I will have a look tomorrow to see if the car has been updated and try things out.

Sent from the Skoda Connect App. Appeared automatically as a message on the Navigation screen, saying it had been received and giving me the option to navigate there or cancel.

From wait I've begin to understand, he new version of connect is meant to be all encompassing within the infotainment system so there are fewer actions to take . However, it seem in my case the system simply isn't storing any history. Not sure if that's a car issue or a system server issue. But my guess is the latter.

My garage is on the case with Skoda technical to fully understand why my car has not updated to allow this function. All 'Connect' options are enabled in the user profile under  the user-settings - privacy option. It appears you MUST have minimum privacy to permit many of the Connect App functions.

They are also looking into the several video clips I sent showing an inability to select destinations from the contacts in a connected phone. The two issues may well be connected.

Out of curiosity, have you tried selecting a destination from the contacts menu option when your phone is connected via bluetooth?

Just tried to send a route to the car, if it's worked I can't find it not showing in Nav.

This is the way forward, when getting the dealerships to agree there is a problem.

Otherwise you get the ' we have had it all day, and cant replicate the issue' response.

The only other success I had was with our Citigo, the radio would sometimes fail to work when you stopped (at a petrol station say), turned the ignition off and back on again 4-5 minutes later.

This happened when I was close to the dealers, so I drove it there and demanded a 'technician' come out and look at it.

Eventually they replaced the head unit...

All this seems a lot of faffing about. I can't even see if my Infotainment system is Bolero, Columbus or Amundsen (2021 Octavia Estate iV). How do I tell - is there an "About" screen-tap somewhere giving the name and version? I think I'll revert to my windscreen mounted Garmin; using GPS coordinates it is quick, easy and precise - and I can do it all before I get in the car.

I am annoyed by online routes and destinations not transferring to my car and being unable to navigate using contacts because of some format error, so I use CarPlay with Apple Maps option in my June 2021 Karoq with Amundsen. Connect my iPhone via Bluetooth, this navigation system is far superior to the car system

Just started the car today and it said system settings changed and the send to function now works.

Sadly selecting an address from the contacts in the connected phone still fails with an invalid format message.

My new Feb 2021 Kamiq started off by accepting destinations from my phone, then became intermittent and finally stopped accepting destinations altogether. I have not changed any settings.

When sending to car phone message states "sending to vehicle". However on starting vehicle satnav opens but no destination is shown.

My Karoq with the MIB3 Amundsen, will receive destinations quite happily, and indeed my standard method for setting up a destination now is to search for it in Google Maps on my Samsung phone, then share it to the Skoda Connect app on my phone. The next time I start my car up, a message pops up on the infotainment screen a few minutes later asking if I want to navigate to it or store it. (For some reason I then have to enter a new name for the destination rather than it just using the one it showed in the message!)

When the feature first started working a few months back, it did take a couple of days for the Skoda servers to pass the destination to the car, but now it seems much better.

Delays could be due to a poor internet connection in the car, or server problems I guess.
