1200 mile Covid Service

Featured Replies

Been in to main dealer this morning for 2nd annual service, 1200 miles since last March, 7000 in total.

No complimentary vacuum, no complimentary wash, no complimentary coffee, no complimentary biscuits, no complimentary air freshener hanging from the mirror and, best of all, no discount.......

.....and just for good measure, I've got to wait on a call and return sometime in the future for a replacement steering wheel ribbon connector, currently on 'back-order' with Skoda.

Nice.

Think yourself lucky that you didn't get the 'free' wash as that normally comes with free swirls!

I've never been able to locate the 'gritty sponge' dealers use in the Škoda parts list !:o

Ah....the "free" coffee from the smiling blonde, the plush waiting room with "free" wifi, "free" newspapers etc and "Complimentary" wash.........

As labour rates whizz onwards & upwards of £100 an hour.....

We take our vans at work to an excellent local garage with three extremely knowledgeable mechanics.  Sadly nothing there is "free".........

But the labour rate is £40 an hour + VAT......

You can pay £100 an hour for a plumber nowadays!

And, complementary damaged rear parking sensor.

The ignorance of people never ceases to amaze.

Perhaps I'm missing something with the moaners here, but I've heard rumours about some virus doing the rounds at the moment and sitting down for a coffee and biscuits and reading the newspapers might go against best practice, guidelines and in some cases, against the law.

Coffees are usually supplied via a vending machine which, correct me if I'm wrong, nobody is using given the risk of passing on the virus. Or perhaps you prefer waiter service?  Did the garage not spend time sanitising your car after they worked on it?  We all know what the likely answer to that will be even if you've chosen to ignore it.

The garage find a fault with your car and order a part thats not in stock. Now most people would say the garage have done their job by running  fault diagnosis because if they hadn't, I'm sure you'd be the very first person to moan. So that's a positve right? Oh no. Nope, lets have a moan about that too. Another moan favoured by many on this forum is people saying "knowing Skoda it won't be covered by warranty" but given you've not said that about the faulty part so I presume it is covered under warranty and you're not being 'screwed' by the useless dealership who're nothing but a bunch of thieves. ( that's a popular assumption too ).

Is there anyone on this feck'n forum that's happy with their car and the service they've had from their dealer because all I ever read is folk moaning.  I defo have to be in the minority. I phone up my dealership, book the car in at the time I want, I give them the car, they service it, and I get it back at the time I want. Sounds very much like that's what's happened to you too but you sure have a funny way of saying it.

Well, I have been very happy with the service from my newly found local dealer in Walthamstow and have said so before and they sorted out some minor issues before Xmas without charging.

There's also been a good number of favourable comments from people here about their Karoqs.  I too, more than once, have noted how pleased I am with my 1.0 DSG SE Tech, but there are a few issues - e.g. wipers of course and ride generally pretty good but a bit crashy on broken road surfaces, noticed particularly yesterday at 4*C, but likely not helped by the summer Turanzas, better when outside is above 11*C.

In some ways, I feel for the dealer having to cope with Covid restrictions, however where they have chosen to relocate to middle of nowhere (I mean isolated on edge of town) it’s not great experience for the customer who has to hang around waiting either.

Of course, the latest fixed menu servicing regime is to blame, if you have a car that has only done 1200 miles, why is a special low mileage inspection not available, parts which degrade over time ok to do, but some mileage related work clearly isn’t needed.  After 12 months of Covid why is there still not a <4000 miles service option (not everyone does 10-12k miles per year which seems to be only option on those service charts).

It is a also bit much to charge full rate if part of the customer comfort experience is withdrawn, more so if other parts included in the price like washing the car are also withdrawn.

I had my Karoq serviced at Rainworth Skoda last week including it's first MOT, brake fluid and 4x4 oil change.

They picked it up from home and returned it, they explained they would not be able due to covid, that they would not be cleaning it inside and out " they usually do a good job ", they also tested and replaced the battery under warranty!  I had not noticed  a problem with it.

Result, I was happy with the service given.

I'm happy.

I’m happy, very happy with my Karoq.  But then again I don’t have inbuilt SatNag or sunroof.

I'm happy, very happy with my Karoq and I do have SatNag and a sunroof

Only reason I mention those is they seem to cause an inordinate amount of grief on this section of the forum, luckily I can gloss straight over them.

My dealer has been OK for service - certainly the extensive warranty work was done without any hassle. They organised courtesy cars as required and the car is always clean on return. So thumbs up for the service team.

The sales team, much less so. Not very interested in selling the Karoq as its a lease. Hand over was basically, "heres the keys, its in the corner over there". I figured out how to work all the bells and whistles myself. Sales are apparently not interested in speaking to me about an Enyaq, despite me telling them I wanted to be priority order and ready to purchase (not lease). Even filling in on-line requests and taking a virtual tour on-line, asking to be referred to my dealer, they never once called back. I stopped calling sales weeks ago.

£60 - I watched a man fix my daughter-in-law’s washing machine a few days ago in 20 minutes with new motor brushes.

ps - a Samsung “they all do that sir

pps - I was disappointed as I failed to fix it and could only narrow the problem down to “a failure of drum to rotate” and suspected electronic issues

A plumber to fix suspected electronic issues on a washing machine?

I'm impressed that he tried. I chuck ours away at the first sign of a fault and buy a new one......

But apparently that is all about to change.......(?)

If you're asking which dealer, it was Mitchell's Ellesmere Port. The sales guy called me after he came back off furlough, but had my new car ordered by then.

Yep, guessed it was either Mitchell's, Skoda Colwyn Bay, or the one in Oswestry. I only live four miles away.

(Mark M would be very unhappy about your experience.  Me, my OH, my best pal and his OH have had ten motors from them over the past several years, both Skoda and Mazda, and a mix of new and used, no complaints whatever.  I got in at 0% finance on my Karoq last June.  No connection other than as customers.  They also hosted a Briskoda evening a few years back, around 40 people. They laid on test drives, freebies, a BBQ and free beer.)
