Dashboard lights flickering

Featured Replies

Hello everyone

I am new to the forum as I only received my current 2021 Octavia SE First Edition on Monday (previously had a 2019 Octavia SE Technology).

I was driving home tonight and the white lights either side of the virtual cockpit (the temperature guage and fuel guage lights) were flickering every now and again.

Has anyone else encountered this and if so what was causing it?

Hi, fossman

You mean something like that:

Our dealer replaced the complete instrument cluster when I showed them the video. However, one month later, the issue re-appeared.

It may have to do something with the high humidity level.

Yes that is exactly the same as what it was doing.

Should I book it in for my local dealers to take a look at?

As I noted, they replaced the unit in my case, but the issue returned a month later.

I don't recall whether this blinking reappeared after a major software update two weeks ago - it may just be another one of those software (communication) bugs, but I will certainly keep an eye on it...

Ahhh glad im not the only one, mine started the other day

Not sure whether other people having the same issue is good or bad 🤔

@matmacka how long have you had your car?

October time and **** loads of issues lol

Ours is from the end of October as well, but most issues stopped appearing after the major multi-ECU update that the local dealer executed.

Before that update, we usually encountered a new issue on every drive we took - e.g. parking brake reported faulty, parking sensors stopped responding, A/C controls stopped responding, steering wheel buttons stopped responding, seat heaters stopped responding... Only ACC-related issue still appears once in a while, but no other fault/error appeared since (neither did flickering).

Did you guys notice any relation between flickering and high humidity?

I noticed the flickering on those side guages to the digital dash on a snow day, high humidity.

Had mine 6 months and only noticed this yesterday. Also getting issue always asking me to log in. Hope it is just a dodgy update that will be sorted soon!

I have this exact same problem. First noticed it in December. Thought it might have something to do with the ambient light sensor, but it has since happened in pitch black and on a bright day. Dealership is waiting for info from Škoda on how to address the issue.

I also have this exact issue, only happened to me once, and I live in Scotland so was definitely not high humidity levels that was dry and cold!

I've had the same issue a few times since collecting mine last October. Really distracting.

This happened to me once a few weeks back, I don't remember what the wether conditions were like. It is quite distracting but it hasn't happened again thankfully. At the time I thought it might have been a loose connection behind the dash as it happened once when I went over a rough patch in the road surface but then it happened on smoother sections as well.

It happened again on Saturday morning, it was a cold and sunny one but couldn't tell you the humidity. Kept flickering for about 15 minutes before returning to normal.

Had this issue show up again at the weekend, wife was in the car with me so managed to film it to send to Skoda.

  • 1 year later...

Although you may have all got yours fixed now (hopefully) here is the answer for anyone else that finds this thread.
