Interior light.

Featured Replies

Why does the interior lighting not come on when the engine is turned off and then needs the door opening to come on ?

Most cars the lighting comes on when you just turn the engine off.

Or have I missed something to switch it.

It’s one of life’s great mysteries.......a truly backward step by VAG.

What benefits does the interior light coming on every time you turn off the ignition?

Well if it's pitch black at night you stop the engine and the interior light comes on rather than you groping around for the light switch or having to open the door to put the light on if you wish to stay in the car.

Does it come on when you take the key out of the ignition?

As opposed to just turning the engine off.

Thanks, AG Falco

No key just button on and off.

I might be involved in covert night time surveillance (might not be - can't say), and the last thing I want when killing the engine is to be bathed in light.

Snipers, see.

Can't be too careful.

You`ve been watching too much "Line of Duty". Next you`ll be flashing your headlights like Steve Arnott does to Kate Fleming....

Oi, less of the spoilers please!!!

Like I said just after you posted last week, a truly backward step by VAG on keyless vehicles.......

Maybe like me, everyone else is happy how it is and never looked into changing anything.

Missing the point here KennyR, that being, things have changed.........for at least 20, maybe even 30 years it’s been ‘normal’ for the interior light light to come on when the ignition is switched off........Kessy comes along and the (very handy night time facility) is somehow dropped.
Seems it’s also a deleted ‘feature’ on BMW’s too.........

Next time out in the car I’ll have a look and see if this happens with cars that don’t have the keyless malarkie.

If you have the interior light switches as in Variant 1 switch `A` controls automatic switching, when on (depressed) the interior lights only come on when opening the door irrespective if the engine is running or not.

So definitely no auto interior lights on until you open the door.

The first car I have had in years that didn`t put the lights on when turning the engine off - both my previous KUGA`s one with a key and one without both managed it.
