Just a quick one I was just reading the info that came with my head gasket kit and 11 to 14 they state 14nm I did the 20nm as suggested have I over tightened those then ???

Check again that it doesn't say 14 ft-lb, which is about the same as 20Nm.

If nothing broke, you'll not have any trouble.

yeah guess so tbh as I had looked in my hayes manual and then it was verified on here I never read this leaflet with the set guess the torque values have changed maybe bec ause its a newer gasket and better tech now hmmmmm.

Or the instructions that came in your set are wrong...

That's what I think as well. It will be fine at 20Nm

No, try resetting the ECU and taking the car for a long drive to get the dynamic map leaned out.

Disconnect the battery for a bit or use a code reader to clear faults even if there aren't any.

Got you thanks for that sepulchrave will do that now then take it for a spin down the motorway :P

You must mean 'sensor 2' as there is no 'bank 2' on 4 cylinder engines.

  • Author

Yes sorry meant sensor 2.

hey all so fuel economy is back up now thanks guys just a saft one when I did the work and stripped the exhaust manifold off the metal gaskets there were 2 of each on all of them now I replaced them all but just 1 of each as i assumed it must have been an error at engine build or should I have actually put 2 of each on ???

!!?

Only ever fit 1 gasket unless you're using a double head gasket as a bodge to drop the compression ratio!

Yeah, should be just one of each.

must have been the muppets at the factory when the engine was built i thought it was weird lol thanks guys.
