Skoda Superb tailgate issue

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have a problem with my tailgate. It flash on my dashboard that the tailgate is not closed properly. Please check the video.
From where i should start checking? The problem is, that the car will see the tailgate open, and it will flash the interior light. That will drain my battery.

I dont know if is about the wires, or if we have a sensor some where?

Sounds like the latch could be faulty.

This will sound strange. But if you disconnect your glovebox light, is there a change in behavior? I have had issues with this. Once I replaced my glovebox light with a low power ledbulb my problem went away. I know the problem is not solved but so far it works.

I think is a sensor in the latch. because the latch is working fine, i can close open the tailgate. Once i closed the car, the tailgate cannot be opened

I think the issue is different.

In my case, the tailgat is locked.

If i locked the car, and try to open the tailget from the buttom from the tailgate it wont open.
I dont think is a mecanical issue, i think is a sensor that see the tailgate still open

I had this issue recently and was caused by AliExpress LED lights in the tailgate.

Removed them and swapped back to the OEM and the problem went away.

Before you touch anything, just answer this question.

Have you replaced any of the following lights in the last few days/weeks/months:

Interior boot lights

Glovebox light

Overhead roof lights

If so, was it an aliexpress/ebay special? That will be the cause of your fault.

If not, let me know and ill start pulling wiring diagrams. All these components that are flashing are linked via the power from the BCM.

Very true.

What I do not understand though is why there is power going to the tailgate lights even when the boot is closed.

Surely this is a safety issue?

What about it would be a safety issue?

The bulbs and latch for all interior lights are fed the same 12v source and the latch is what activates the tailgate light ground to complete the circuit.

That is reassuring. I was just trying to figure out how the Aliexpress lights caused the battery drain.
