lack of pikey mods

Featured Replies

on the recent C+F run i had a look round most of the Fabia VRS ,13 or 14 cars iirc, and quite a few were remapped i think , but i didn't notice any of them had pikey mods 1+2 , surely its a very cheap and easy job to do ,which in the coming summer months will make a difference to the performance when its warm , just wondering why nobody had done it thats all:confused:

Maybe they've got a FMIC :D

Seriously though, I can imagine reasons against it being it's a fair bit of work, and it may cause road crud to get into the SMIC I suppose if you don't quite get it right.

That said IMHO *disclaiming whatever here :o * it should be fine if you fit the louvre in the correct way, and I was going to go for it myself (then the GB on the Forge FMIC came along, etc ).

I would imagine the biggest difference will be for those who have a custom remap rather than the generic ones (as the custom one will probably have significantly higher boost => temperature)

You done yours then?

I've done both mine, differences in performance are negligable. maybe a little better up top and 3-4 degrees C cooler under full throttle acceleration. my SMIC is stone chip free after 25,000 miles however it is dirty now and in need of a clean.

Mine has both mods, and was at the C&F. Not convinced they make a vast difference, to be honest (when you're looking at an intake air temperature increase of (say) 30

I have the pikey arch mod, although its useless now.

Yashicamat (sp?) :D has reserved it for a clean, no cost swap over at the blackpool meet.... He knows he's going, he just refuses to acknowledge it publically :D

Forgive me for being ignorant, but, what are these mods.??

If mine has these I will remove them immediately to return my car to standard, as it should be.....Bah!

Basically its cheap mods that are good for performance. hence the cheap venting of the arch liner trick is called a pikey mod as it vents the very well tucked away  side mounted intercooler, allowing better performance in warmer weather, :) It worked well on mine until I opted to move the IC itself.

There a 2 pikey mods, venting at the front (pikey mod 2) and the TT arch liner mod (pikey mod 1).

please tell me what your ultimate mod is ?

A FMIC ;) - Neo_VR has the prototype Forge FMIC which IIRC is a tad bigger :)
