@whitevx. You will have noticed that it was mph being discussed and not km/h.

Well given in Australia we use the metric system. 5 or 8kmh, or 5 or 8mph. The average person wouldn't be able to tell the difference. When observing if said person didn't know a test was being conducted

Some expert !  Observation of the posts in the thread might be a good start to a discussion.    Try walking at 5mph and then at 8mph and the difference is very obvious.  Try walking 5 km/h and then 8km/h.

I'll be back in a couple of days time to let you know how I get on using idle speed in first gear across a slightly bumpy grassed area driving a tetchy 1.5tsi manual Karoq. If I don't reappear, you will know that my experiment failed and that I have been arrested/shot.

There is a system that helps.  Those cars with the 'offroad' function / button.

Reading this thread it seems to me we have got into an unresolvable discussion.

Seems to me any speed limit posted up on private ground, whether or not looking like a "proper" speed limit sign is indicative only.  It's the land owners decision as to how to enforce the limit and what action to take.  I can't see what more needs to be said.

Lastly, and so far not mentioned and definitely applicable to diesels (I think the 1.5 tsi as well), letting the car proceed in gear on tickover with no throttle input has the potential to damage the dual mass flywheel.  Beware.

Well arent you a charming person. Full of snide remarks and copious amounts of shade for good measure.

Come to Australia and try your attitude re km/h or mph, id gladly contest the issue.

Meanwhile ill walk away from someone who appears to be full of there own alledged self importance.
