URGENT: OCTY vRS NEEDED FOR PICS

Featured Replies

:) Hi, as is obvious from my sig I'm part of the committee of Skoda Owners Club GB, and today I received this email:

Hi David,

Can you help? I work on Test Drive Magazine and need an Octavia vRS owner

for a photoshoot this Friday at Chobham in Surrey. We'll also be bringing

along the new Golf GTi for people to have a play in.

Thanks,

Ian

If anyone can help, can you PM me, or email me at [email protected] and I'll pass the info to him.

Thankyou:thumbup:

Is that a Mk1 or a Mk2 ? I assume a Mk2

 Thanks for the fast reply...I'm fairly sure he needs the Mk2 model as the new Golf GTi will be there too. I've emailed him to ask though just to be sure.:)

Hi there,

Thought I would join up. We need a MK1 for the photo shoot - so if anyone can help, that would be great.

Thanks,

Ian

Both these requests may get more replies in either the Octavia or new Octavia forums.

It would also help what the photoshoot is about? Does it need to be a modified Octy, or a standard? Does it involve any tests? Does it need washing beforehand?

I'd love to come, but I'm not sure if my 5 year old, gritted in stonechips, with 2 alloys in anthracite and 2 alloys in silver of which one is kerbed is the sort of vRS you're looking for ;)

I have the MkII vRS and am available in the morning if that helps. Would like to pop along anyway if that's OK?.

As above I am about on Friday with a Mk1 Octy vRS. Please pm if needed.

Thanks guys for getting in touch. I'm afraid it's only a MK1 hatch we need, and unfortunately the track limits the number of cars and people we're allowed - otherwise our costs shoot up - so I can only accommodate the people who will be taking part in the shoot.

But thanks for your interest,

Ian

Gerry - can you make it tomorrow. We would need you to be there from 10am and you can shoot off probably from 11:30 or stay and have a bit of a play.

Let me know if you can make it,

Cheers,

Sorry, but should have posted before, we had a brilliant day, although some of the cars that promised to turn up failed to do so. They just wanted readers opinions on their cars, as length of ownership, faults with the car, and general items relating to the car.

As much track time as you wanted, both in their Golf GTI and Renault Clio Trophy and my own Octy vRS. Really good track with banked bends and some adverse cambers to watch out for.

The Golf GTI has a brilliant engine but the suspension is too soft for track work and wallowed at lot, but then again it is not designed for track work.

The Clio Trophy was just atrocious, it bounced all over the place, and within ten laps the clutch was nearly cooked.

Various other cars there, Honda Civic R, Seat Cupra, Golf, but the bonus had to be the two McLaren F1's that were being tested on the track by the McLaren test drivers). Awesome things.

The back section of the track went through a golf course, and although the crossing point where the golfers crossed the track was manned at all times, I think it helped that they used motorised golf trolleys, as I would not have walked across the track knowing the speeds that we were doing around there.

I took a few pictures of the day, but they will obviously not be as good as theirs.

The magazine photographers took loads of shots of all cars, and we have been told that a copy will be sent when it is ready for publication.

If anyone is any good at attaching pictures to this post, please let me have your e-mail and I will send a couple over to attach.

Send them to me q @awooga.nl and I'll put them online

Gerry's Pictures -

Thanks for that Stu, much appreciated.

Can I just say that this pic is awesome!

Thanks a lot as I took it, but the official photographer from the Magazine will make a much better job than I did.

Also, the reason mine was not on the ramps, was it was too low to get up there without grounding.

That is my stern look for Saxo's at traffic lights..............................:D

Was a really good day, I did ask for them to give a mention to Briskoda, but it did not happen.

I think my photos came out just as well as theirs..................:P
