Squeak from passenger side front -roll bar link-arm?

Featured Replies

An annoying 'squeek' has developed in the front passenger side going over speed humps and when pulling away.

Do I assume that it's an ARB link arm? Or something more serious?

My focus had a similar issue which was easily sorted DIY.

ps. Is the Haynes manual available yet?

Yes although possibly

No

Actually, I've just thought:

pigs may fly and the dealer's 1 year waranty may cover it.... Nah, don't be silly.

Mine was ARB bushes this time. Time before was a spilt wishbone bush.

Was there any obvious visible indication or a way of generating the noise with the car jacked-up?

Another possibilty was loose rad mounts. My old one was very loose on top, shaking it you got a metal on metal noise.

Had the same problem a month or so ago, one of the kind chaps on here advised me to lubricate the anti roll bar bushes with fairy liquid. I was sceptical but one morning I jacked the car up to have a look and found them to be a one bolt per side job so removed them, cleaned them and the bar and then applied the fairy liquid and touch wood the squeek has gone and so far not returned!!!! great advice.

My trusty Octavia sufferred from odd suspension creaks from about 1 year old ... each time the noises happened it was cured by bush replacement - (yes it was done under warranty including under the extended warranty when the car was 4 years old) - My dealer cured the noises by bush replacement but I understand fairy liquid is a valid "fix"... Think it is always worth asking dealer to investigate in case the noise is caused by something else... although once you have identified the unmistakably chorus of sounds which can develop you will know when it is the ARB creaking...

i have had my 03 vrs in the local dealer who originally told me it would be a link rod so they ordered one, when it was fitted the noise was still there,so another trip in for them to have a look and now they tell me the mounting clip for the Anti-roll bar has lost its protective coating???? and also there is a sleeve on the bar which is split ??????apparently the bush sits over this sleeve. So i am facing a £400 bill to change Anti-roll bar/bushes/and clamps, can someone shed abit of light on this

If so, I'll be attempting to claim that under warranty!

I had a creak from the offside that I assumed was an ARB bush - it turned out to be the intercooler pipe mounting that can be found in the front wheel arch.

Just been doing some enquring and found out that the octavia vrs anti-roll bar has plastic section to keep the roll bar in place, but to my horror found mine have broken off causing the bar to move and make the god awfull noise that it does.Having been quoted
