Myskoda App

It has its good points . It  located  the  car and can remotely unlock it , which has its uses.

How did you actually get the app to be convinced to use the unlock feature?

I too seem to have a dealer with zero idea how to validate me as driver.

I maintain what I said in the Octavia forum when I had my MK4: I wouldn't pay a quid for this app after the free year expires. Partly because it is barely online these days, or is inaccurate at best.

I can see my completely closed and locked car from here, yet the app is reporting the drivers door as being open. It isn't. It is closed and locked.

Hi I had to take proof of ID into the dealer (they required copy driving licence) they then had to register the info with Skoda and about 2 hours later the lock unlock started to work .

It’s all software code and computer communication  and it seems to me that not all dealer techs know how it works in detail and if an unusual issue occurs many  don’t have sufficient training /skill to put things right. ( they are not usually software engineers)

if you are getting incorrect data as you are not registered for lock unlock yet it might be worth starting again with a new  account and re setting the car and app.

Judging by various comments around this forum and elsewhere, and my own experiences, the issue lies solely with the Skoda app/network being down.

Thanks for info relating visiting the dealer. That was my understanding too, but it seems I have one of the dealers who doesn't seem to know what to do. Again I have seen people say that across the forum, so that is a crazy failing on Skoda's behalf that it is completely down to luck of the draw as to whether you live near a dealer that knows how to do this. They really need a function to enable in-app verification by some means.

I agree, only the senior master tec at my dealer seems to have a good understanding of the system, the senior tec is quite good but really follows a tick list. I seem to be developing a greater understanding of my cars computer systems fec codes etc than I ever wished to so I can explain  to the dealer what is wrong and what they need to do to fix it.  I have had issues with swap/ fec codes vanishing after they fixed one software issue, then they replaced one missing fec code which vanished when they reflashed the system to correct a communication error with Skoda assist,  but removed another, it is extremely irritating that they let themselves down on these issues, especially as the product is generally so good.  Functions vanishing is very irritating.

I have similar issues with Toyota and online services and updates in the past which was eventually solved after escalation to European HQ and software co but that was a decade ago.

It is  all hassle customers just don’t want or need.

Not from 2 miles away

with kids returned early you cannot

I would’nt’ve let my kids into my car when I couldn’t see what they were doing, but I can see the advantage of that in certain circumstances. In any event, it’s won’t connect with my “old” £40k car, which in my opinion makes it crap.
