Reason for asking this question is that nobody came back to me gave me an exact location before I start taking panels off

Petrol fuel filters are usually located under the car near the fuel tank in line with the fuel lines so should be easy to locate. They are fit for life filters, and don't need to be changed unless you have had contaminated fuel or dirt been introduced into the tank.

I’ve just gone from diesel to petrol Octavia for the first time and was wondering why the petrol filter never needs changing ?

They dont have a serviceable filter. There is nothing to change.

Ive pulled tanks on cars that are between 1 and 30 years old, between 10 and 250,000 miles and ill tell you this, ive never found sediment or anything else in the tanks that would cause blockages (except for one that had sugar and sand in it, but thats a different story). Petrol and diesel are very clean as fuels go now and there is no contamination in there that blocks things anymore. I dont think it will be long till diesels dont have filters either, the only reason they are still kept is water separation issues.

*talking most cases here - obviously if a part fails and flows back to the tank, vandalism or a dirty fuel nozzle could still cause contamination.
