Fabia Transplant (1.8 turbo octavia engine)

Featured Replies

Re: what Lummox said about using 2.0 gearbox and driveshafts' date=' does this mean a 2.0 Fabia is probably the most ideal car to use as a platform for a 1.8T install?[/quote']

As I see it yes. Can use the gearbox and driveshafts, discs brakes all around and IIRC 288mm (vRS spec) brakes up front to can fit 312mm upgrade).

ibiza 1.8T (180)cupra is in group 11.... interestinly the 130pd tdi FR is group 7....

in the UK anyway the Ibiza 1.8T Cupra 180 is insurance group 15, Ibiza PD130 TDi FR is group 8.

hi

thanks for all your help guys. btw i am Matthew. Skoddish managed to hook me up with briskoda, and i am realy gratefull for that, i found it realy helpful.

As regards to fueling. will i be able to use my standard pump with a re-mapped ecu. or use a better in tank pump with the doner car's ecu?

i like my fabby, and i want it to be individual and unique yet keeping it as if it came from the production line. i've edited a pic of my car on paintshop pro before i started my modifying and i want to get it as close to that pic as possible.

i'll be posting some pics of it later on.(i still have to learn how to insert images on this thing)

thanks guys appreciate your help

 Just to put Mr Hellfire in the picture:

an Ibiza fr costs around Lm14,000 in Malta (approx 21k sterling). plus insurance companies here are concerned on the value of the vehicle as much as the bhp figure. last year i paid lm 450 insurance for my 1.4 fabby on a book value of Lm 3500.

and i'm not the typical anus that forks out money for the typical fast car that even my granny can drive. annus!!!:finger:

That "i did it" (being unique and individual) means a lot for me.

sorry guys but some phrases really got me Mad.

I think it would be a good idea to get an Octavia fuel pump. however im not sure if its pressure is different, i'll try and find out for you.

It would be interesting to see this done. I think what makes the fabia (vRS model anyway) standout is that it is a diesel. It is understated.

Sticking a 1.8T in it would make it very special indeed, but I can't help but think that there is only so much you can do, and that it would be better to buy a better car in the first place.

Best of luck if you decide to do it.

thanks pal.

at the moment i'm doing the check list of whats needed.,

and my best bet is going to be a complete front end from a crashed doner car.

in malta there's already a fabia with an engine transplant.

it is based on a golf gti 1.8 16v aspirated. with a fitted turbo, dta engine managment, dyno'd at 293 bhp on a roling road. whats impressive is that he's using the standard 1.4 drive shafts. he said that the shafts can withstand up to 300 Lb feet of torque. thats him stating it.

another unusual thing is he's running a different fuel set up and not an in-tank pump. it's situated in the luggage boot.

i want my car to look as neat as possible, not a track car job sort of thing
