Jabba ARB-The best mod?

Featured Replies

Took it for a spin last night and  corners are fun!!! Felt weird to begin with but I tried to gradually push it and ended up going into corners with the sort of speed that would normally be a handful to control. When easing off you can actually feel the back of the car:thumbup: .It's a subtle difference that only becomes apparent when you push on, enjoyed it so much I had to go out again:D Now I just need a track to see what will happen when I really go for it:rolleyes:

I had a nightmare fitting it coz those clips are seriously annoying, took me about 3 hours:thumbdwn: Problem I have is that one clip sits ok (bolt facing straight down) and the other one faces backwards slightly,I tried twisting it round but it wouldn't budge. Does anyone know if this is likely to give me problems?

Don't let this put you off though, this is the best

From experience of fitting a Neuspeed ARB on my Octy....the hangers have to sit properly or they'll move/shift during cornering....will obviously reduce effectivenes of the arb.

I had to get some clamps to "pull" the hanger over the rear beam far enough for me the tighten the retaining bolt.

It is THE best mod, period. For real fun - hammer on to a big roundabout a good 10mph faster than you would normally dare, tug on the steering and let the back end drift in and out by using the throttle. Great fun.

And the clips need to be sitting properly. Mine weren't quite right but when adjusted properly by Jabba there was an improvement.

Don't suppose you have a picture of how they should look?

Grease them up first, shape them, then add the rubbery bits under and fit. It's a royal PITB and it's a lot easier if you have someone to help :)

Have to admit this mod is awesome! Makes the car really behave and when you sit the back end down going into a bend you can really crack on. When you back off very predictable. Not something to try in standard trim as it usually finds a hedge!

You make it sound like you've done it a few times :P ;)

I fit the clips around the beam first and tighten them to set the shape, once you have done that you can undothem and put them round the bar and mounting bush.

I'm still recovering :P ;)

i'm going to possibly fit my ARB tomorrow , and i thought i'd have a quick look at the pictures TOM-VRS posted after he fitted his ,but the pictures are missing , i tried to find them on photobucket without success , does anybody know where they are ?

They appear to have gone walkies... they can be found HERE

I'll update the tread as/when I get time.

Good luck:thumbup: Give yourself plenty of time just in case, also I think VRStu's idea for the clips would make things a lot easier, shame I didn't know that when fitting mine.

Good luck with the ARB - you'll really notice the difference! One of the most cost effective mods available... especially given the change it makes to the handling and dynamics! :D

Does it wear out the rear suspension quicker and what is it like in the wet?

I don't think it wears the suspension any quicker, it just reduces the resistance to lateral rolling....

It makes a huge difference to handling in the wet. Around a tight wet roundabout, you'd be amazed at how well the car grips. Jabba must have done their research and testing before releasing this arb as the car feels really well balanced on a neutral throttle - ie holding your speed. If you want to tighten the line, lift off slightly and the front bites. If you want to have some fun, lift off totally and the back will gently drift out... catch this with the trottle and use the power to drive out of the slide. Seriously - it makes a substantial improvement.

I could of done with my ARB being fitted before the weekend as I was driving from Dudley to Wednesbury and slowly going round a roundabout the car started sliding which I only just caught before driving in to a Mitsubishi Shogun which had spun 180 and was facing me. It was wet but nothing too drastic and have been through worse with no problems, there must have been something on the road. My girlfriend who lives there says she's done the same a week before. Oh well can't wait to get mine fitted tomorrow.

No one is finding their car too twitchy in the wet then?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have issues with ground clearance once the arb has been fitted?

Not for me.

Look out for a fitting guide soon.

Ground clearance is virtually the same as it's no lower than the (standard) suspension. The only difference is the bar under the car, which is about an inch thick (roughly ;)) - it's not going to be lower than your sump though anyway :o

Not the best Mod IMHO but a very close 3rd.

I take it if you've got ESP then the car will limit the available fun in relation to the available grip, - If I fitted the ARB i wouldn't be able to get the back end to step out if the ESP was turned on, but I would still be going quicker round the corners?

I dont ever turn ESP off except for when I want to do silly stuff - yep I know it may impact the getaway -

Got a LSD fitted anyway so most of the time grip is ok I suppose.

The rear ARB will help stabilise the car round corners, and although I've not tried to step out the back etc, if you control the car on the throttle you can go round roundabouts a LOT quicker than without.

My rear ARB was removed to get it (re-)painted and the difference was staggering in real-life situations.
