Issues with Amundsen MIB2 5L0035680C

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have been reading the forum with interest and searching for some answers. Maybe you can kindly advise me on some things please?

1. Is there a screen on the unit that shows antenna and signal information? I have seen people speak of such a screen but cannot find out what button sequence would open that for my unit. I would like this because I am have DAB reception issues. My antennas seem to be physically fine but I am not sure where the DAB gets it antenna signal.

2. I saw in another post someone said that flashing some patches/updates can enable 'Smartlink'. Is that really possible and do you know how to do it? Can you instruct me?

3. While I had the unit out of the dash yesterday I did notice the bottom was very hot, more hot than I would expect a radio to get. Any ideas why or is this normal?

I also appreciate any info you can share.

Many thnaks,

Kenny

DAB can be very fickle, in some places around me its existence is very sharply defined i.e on or off around built up areas.

I had to install an aerial at home as reception was limited to the RH side of my kitchen window, nowhere else in the house.

I have Amundsen2 (inc SD Card1 SatNav, FM/DAB and SD Card2 Music)

My first unit failed after four and a half years and was replaced by Skoda UK with new under warranty.

I can only comment on your question 3, although I have never removed the unit myself, but both screens (original & new) feel noticeably more than just 'warm' after a few miles of SatNav.

I used to have fairly good reception but it has gotten bad lately. I had a courtesy car last week and it’s DAB was rock solid everywhere.  I would consider a new antenna if I thought it would help.
