Door Control Unit to retrofit puddle lights and red warning light please?

Featured Replies

Hello,

From ODB11 I have determined the Door Control Units fitted in my mk3 Octavia Estate are 5Q4959393 and 5Q4959392, though I do not know what the letter afterwards is. Does anyone know how to find it using ODB11 and does anyone know what the letter afterwards means? I have seen C, E and F. Which letter afterwards would allow me to have puddle lights and the red warning lights (6Y0947411) please?

Would anyone know what the part number is for the part of the loom and plug which fits into the red warning light please?

Many thanks

Some parts don't have a suffix letter after them. Given 5Q4959393 and 5Q4959392 exist in various Golf scans, those are likely to be the full part number ;)

I think you'll need 5Q4 959 593 and 5Q4 959 592. I'm sure some of the suffix parts will be fine but I can't say for sure what changed between them.

Just remember, if the modules aren't from a similar Octavia, they will probably need parametrising/dataset which OBDeleven can't do.

Thank you @langers2k I think I am going to have to take the plunge and buy one and see if it works.... If it needs parametrising/dataset, and I bring the car to you, are you able to do it?

@SashaGrace if you know what the suffix means, the info would be much appreciated before I take the plunge.

If you can source the correct XML file for ODIS I can. I've had a quick google and couldn't see any though...

I have the correct zdc files for Skoda 5Q4 controllers. The suffix is a model year thing, they are usually cross compatible within reason.

Thank you @langers2k and @SashaGrace

The controller arrived a few days after my post, and the lights arrived this morning.....

The controller is 5Q4 959 592 C. I unplugged my old controller and plugged the new one in, and then did a scan with ODBEleven, unfortunately, the controller is not detected. How do I tell if the controller is dead or if it needs parametrising/dataset?

Many thanks in advanced

While hoping I can get the new controller "seen" by the car, I have continued with retrofitting the Red Warning Lights. I removed the white block from the blue plug and notice I only have three wires, while the old controller (5Q4 959 392) has 7 pins. Would anyone know what the pin out is please? I noticed that 5Q4 959 592 has one extra pin

maybe log in to erwin - erwin.skoda-auto.cz, pay your money and get the electrical diagrams?

@brettikivi thank you, will do

@brettikivi I must be looking in the wrong place, I cannot find the pinout of the controller in the Electrical manual, or when I use ERWIN ESIS, any thoughts on where it might be please?

Actually, I think I have worked out how to find the pin out. Looking through the Basic Equipment pdf, T32/X where X is the pin number.

The controllers I got from the scrap yard did not work, so I invested in a pair of new ones.... 5Q4 959 592 E and 5Q4 959 593 E Once I put the long coding in from the old controllers, they appeared to work, with one known problem. Folding Mirrors...  the folding mirrors open when the mirrors should close and vice versa. I am sure I have seen a post about this issue, but with a VW, but I cannot seem to find it. Would anyone know how to fix it with the Octavia mk 3 please?
