Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?

Featured Replies

They know the cars they want to produce and with what extras, as they hold all the cards and don't give a toss about anyone i'm pretty sure and fair saying you'll likely be put right at the bottom and forgotten about should you keep sticking with having the extras.

Only extra i have is virtual dash and that is a biggy for me not having especially come sell on time............

  • Well, after a 7 month wait, I picked up my Sportline facelift today. All options present, including Canton, and the electric child locks with the family pack.

I can see from Skoda's side - if for simplicities sake a specced up car needs 100 chips and a base needs 50, they're of course going to build and sell two base instead of fulfil the order.

But there has to be some point at which an order already on the books has to take precedence otherwise it could be pushed to the bottom forever.

You're over-simplifying things there... Skoda don't take the microchips and make all the components. I'm guessing that whoever makes the Canton sound systems and Side-assist sensors/radars/whatever cannot supply the bits to Skoda because they don't have enough chips.

I would guess that the problem is probably exaggerated by the fact that Skoda will be behind just about all the other VAG brands (except maybe Seat!) when it comes to priorities - so VAG will be getting their suppliers to use their limited chip supplies to build the components that go into the other brands' cars, or even just directing the common components to the other brands' factories. You can't just think in terms of Skoda making decisions and acting alone here, there will be a lot of decisions being made for them by the VAG board...

I was, and you're right. More likely to ship out Audis than Skodas.

Just exacerbates the problem though and still means long standing orders being pushed to the bottom rather than being treated with priority.

Mine is the standard 4x4 Kodiaq ordered in July, build week 9. Lots of other people got their cars sooner with a few optional extras. No pattern and very random, only Skoda know why but they won’t tell us will they! Last Skoda I buy!

We collected our new 'temporary' 200 TDi L&K on Saturday after coming to a satisfactory arrangement with the dealer. Now we have to wait another 6 months for the correct ordered spec to arrive!

Still on the plus side another new car in 6 months. 😆

Anyway, the new one feels so different to our old 190TDi Edition to drive. The engine on the new car feels a lot more than just a 10bhp uplift and the overall quality of the cabin (even if it is the wrong colour for now) feels a step up. It is annoying that little details like the spare wheel being covered under the boot floor has gone, torch in the boot gone, door protectors gone (I have got really good at fixing those in 15 mins), window buttons losing the bright edging, felt lining on the door bins gone. Also there is now nowhere to plug in a drive with all our music on without having cables trailing about, so I need to find a small USB C flash drive that will allow me to shut the cover where you place your phone. It all relies on music though phone apps. Also the key allocation takes a while to sort and now it doesn't remember the drive mode so you have to set that every time.

So all in all some improvements but some annoying steps back.

But back to lead times. The dealer did say that they are dropping fast and although they have planned on a 6 month wait for our replacement it should be shorter. The one that we have now took 4.5 months from order to dealer which wasn't that bad and our L&K has all the kit on plus Travel Assist and 20" wheel.

Aye... but overall, personally I think there's more in the + column than the - one.

For you music conundrum, my previous go-to on small form factor USB sticks would be a SanDisk UltraFit. Unfortunately, they still don't seem to do a USB-C version - no idea if anyone else does.

I'm not sure that's the link you intended 😂

Seriously, the door bin felt has gone? You may think I’m joking but that’s a deal breaker for me as ŠKODA is one of the few manufacturers to do this and stuff doesn’t rattle and slide about- a joy to have actually, and a quality touch. I don’t mind the boot light being removed as I’ve never used it with the 3 skoda’s we’ve had over 7 years, and I didn’t mind the illumination of the AC vent control rings being removed because hey, when they’re open they’re open, right? I WAS impressed they’d added kessy to the rear doors which is just fantastic, but no door felt, that’s just not on. I take it if an L&K doesn’t have it then none of them do? Anybody got anything else missing?

 Cheers. Ordered. 👍

Has the Kodiaq standard spec changed since ordering in July?? The thread suggests bits missing?

No, I checked against what I ordered and they haven't changed it. I took it for granted that little things that were on our 2018 Edition would automatically be on the new facelift L&K.

Autotrader

Off-topic: You got me wondering about how many 'stock' cars there might be around now, especially considering people are still waiting for orders (seems unfair to build stock cars and not customer orders)... anyway, you have to admire the chutzpah of some dealers:

They do - because they can.

Agreed. Maybe they think the black wheels are with another £5k. Been a few VRS on Autotrader recently- another enigma.

A couple there now. Dealers will have ordered them as they know they'll sell, Skoda will make them as they know they'll sell.

What a lovely demonstrator that they will not want many potential customer driving and messing up brfore they maybe sell it to a friend of the Dealership or a family member.

So nice to get assistance from HMRC so the general tax payers putting a car on the road as a demonstrator and be able to make a profit.

They might be sitting fingers crossed that some pleb does not flash the cash and purchase it but if they do then nothing lost. actually just the more profit.

I may be wrong but there is still felt going down the door card and into the bottom of the pocket. But there is no felt against the plastic pocket itself. So one side without. see pics

I am now doubting myself but I’m sure our old one had it on every surface.

Thanks for the pics Stumpage2, faith has been restored- I thought the whole door bin was now unlined but thankfully not the case. 😃

Great news. Did you ever get a build date ?

Build week was week beginning 16th August and has been parked up at Kralove airfield since awaiting components to complete build.
