if you factory ordered a kodiaq in say 2018 what sort of wait time would you expect?

I ordered my first Kodiaq at the start of December 2017... and it was at the dealer at the start of February, so about 12 weeks later. I didn't pick it up until March though.

  • Well, after a 7 month wait, I picked up my Sportline facelift today. All options present, including Canton, and the electric child locks with the family pack.

Having never ordered a new Skoda before I’m curious as to what the wait time is in normal circumstances - pre chip shortage and war…if you factory ordered a kodiaq in say 2018 what sort of wait time would you expect?

I ordered my first Kodiaq on 31/1/18 and collected it on 19/4/18.

If it was a factory order, about 6-10 weeks to be built, and another 3-4 weeks for delivery.   But there was much more unsold stock at UK ports, and if you were happy with one of those and whatever options it had, was 2-3 weeks

One of the side effects of the shortage is less buffering of stock awaiting ships and road transporters so delivery from factory is about week quicker now.

Yeah I always ended with stock cars or pre reg. Apart from one factory order with VW in the past.

Just wondered how it was historically.

My old Golf order was about 6-7 weeks iirc.

My dad ordered an Audi once and was bang on 6 weeks.

But Kodiaq is a bigger car so just wondered what that looked like normally. Cheers.

@Stumpage2

Holy **** what a fast delivery :D And i am still waiting for the july 21 order rofl And i am very happy for you i just hate Skoda :)  If i ever receive the car and it is not complete i will explode and let all my fluids out right there and then :D

Just had an update from dealer who says my vehicle is at status 38 released for shipping! Looking good, fingers crossed!

just had an update i have a unconfirmed build week of 34 i dont know whether to laugh or cry. its movement but 5 months away. If you walked into a show room and ordered i recon you'd get it quicker.

This means 14 months from order to going into build

Wow.

In some ways at least they're scheduling our ancient orders in but that's forever. Will be chasing mine now!

And still... "Unconfirmed" 😡

Mine gone back also. Was BW17 but now has no build week. Blaming situation in Ukraine

Mine is still not accepted by the factory. 2.0 TSI ordered 6th of October 21. In December I declined removing of Canton and Side assist and probably that's why I'm in this situation 🤣

I just had an update! Apparently I have a provisional build date of w/c 27/06 along with the standard skinchies clauses incase it all goes tits. So that'll be over 17 months from the point of order to build if it actually goes ahead 🤞

The world really has gone mad. They'll have banned petrol and diesel cars by the time they build our cars 🤣

Yeah its crazy, but if fuel prices keep going the way they are then this could well be my last ICE anyway 😂 my Octavia does around 50-55 mpg but I reckon I'm probably looking at 35-40 for the bear.

Oh and they didn't mention a year in the update but I'm being optimistic and assuming they mean 22 :D

Side assist being pulled off all VAG cars last time I heard. So yeah could be a wait. Uses a lot of precious chips apparently. Couldn’t order anything with it I don’t think now. Or at least blind spot monitoring - which apparently is chip hungry.

Will be my last petrol too. Also down for provisional June build.

Why would it be your last petrol? It will still be cheaper than an electric car in Europe.

Mine probably will be as I plan on running it for at least 10 years, then it will be second hand or electric - no other choice!

They are stopping selling petrol and diesel new cars in 2030 in U.K.

When I get Kodiak it will last a till close enough to the point where I’d not want to get another fossil fuel car given by then residual values will be very uncertain to say the least. Might change my mind but feel that by 2026/7 it will be too risky to take on another petrol and we are all going to be pushed into EVs like it or not. By then many of the infrastructure issues should be ironed out and hopefully more choice and lower prices.

Not quite. Here in the UK, the plan is by 2030, cars powered 100% by ICE will be banned, but you'll still be able to buy hybrids ( PHEV probably ) until 2035.

I say the "plan is" because I think hybrid will be around until the infrastructure problem is sorted out. At present, EV is OK only if you have access to overnight charging, for those who don't? Any report I've read of people with no access to overnight charging, EV has proved to be a pain-in-the-ar5e.

If I lived in a flat, I'm not sure what I'd do. And with houses becoming increasingly unaffordable - i.e. the 'kids' stay at their parents much longer, three and four cars per house is now common place. Families will end up having to book a charging slot in their own driveway!

We have a garage so I'm expecting that in 10 years time something fully electric will have a practical range at a sensible price. Maybe I'm hoping for too much 🤣

New ICE cars will be banned. Not second hand ones.

PHEV are worse for the carbon emissions than Ice cars if not charged due to battery production and extra weight. EU are about to crack down on them and we will probably follow. By 2030 doubt PHEV will still exist in new cars.

Skoda, redefining irony.

Lots of people with Plug in hybrids or BEV's do not have Home Chargers or require to do overnight charging.

They might charge at work, many do their charging at supermarkets and might not need long if only doing a few miles a day or week, and also charge at public charging and as the infrastructure is being built around Scotland now with Park & Rides with dozens of 7 or 22 kWh chargers now charge while the car is parked and they use public transport.
