How to get rid of "INSP" warning on Vrs

Featured Replies

Good morning.

I do my own servicing on our Fabia.

I have a symbol of a spanner with "INSP" next to it on the dash display.

Are there any buttons to press to get rid of this?

Also, if I return the car for warranty work and this is displayed will they refuse to work on it as it has not been maintained in line with the warranty conditions?

Basically its telling you a service is due, you can reset it yourself (use search on home page) but would suggest that you get it serviced.

If you service your vehicle yourself and you are not a VAT registered garage then you have already voided your warranty I'm afraid.

Under the block exemption rules, you are allowed to get it serviced elsewhere but it must meet the manufacturer's specification and use genuine parts.

As for resetting the dash you can use VAG-COM or read the manual enclosed with the vehicle and it's in there - uses the dash buttons.

Weird. My manual doesn't have the instructions in, but a little hand written note from moi does. ;)

You'll be able to find it doing a search for "service reset" on here. :)

Thanks, chaps.

I bought the car from a mate of mine who owns a dealership but it is some distance away.

We agreed that if I buy genuine parts and then send him the receipt and my service schedule he will stamp it and return it.

Isn't that fraud or something??

Bear in mind that there'll be no record of any of these services at your dodgy dealers so when you come to make a warrenty claim then they'll refuse. :P

I would just take it back to my 'dodgy dealer'.

He will honour the warranty, what with him being a reputable dealer and all...

Tells you in the owners book - near the front

Pretty sure the procedure is as follows:

Basically with ignition off push and hold the trip computer reset. Put ingnition on and hold trip computer button for 10secs - display shows ---. Release button

I believe that after you reset 'insp' it will show 'oil' for the minor oil service. Just repeat the above to clear the oil change reminder

There's a bit of a "turn and hold to the right" in there as well. But it does show INSP, then OIL, if done right. Then it shouldn't come on at all, until the next scheduled time.

Thanks, chaps.

Can I just appologise for my comment to Neily03.

I felt a bit agrieved as the bloke is a mate of mine but I understand that you were letting me know about the consequences of doing what I am doing.

Soz, mate.

The Manufacturer recommends having a specialist garage reset the service interval display, and also cautions against doing the reset yourself since this can result in the service interval display being incorrectly set - which may also result in problems in the operation of the vehicle. If you still wish to reset the Service Interval with the reset button (to the left of the odometer) the procedure is as follows:

Models with fixed service intervals (QG0)

Press the reset button with the ignition switched off and hold it down.

If the ignition is switched on, one of the service intervals appears in the display. Holding the rest button down for 10 seconds will cause the couter to be reset (the display shows "---" and then the trip counter readout).

The readout OIL will appear in the display after resetting the indicator INSP and releasing the reset button when both service intervals (INSP and OIL) were reached together.

Repress the reset button and hold it down for 10 seconds to also reset this interval.

Vehicles with extended service intervals (QG1 AND QG2)

Press the reset button with the ignition switched off and hold it down.

Switch the ignition on, release the button and turn the reset button to the right. All counters will be reset to 0.

Interesting - does this mean that the Fabia is actually available on variable servicing now?

Chris

It can also be done with VAG-COM for the OEM image :P
