Felicia Lift

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Looking to lift my 95 felicia, i could do with the extta clearnce for some of the country roads around where i live. Ive found some front strut spacers which should give an extra 40mm clearance at the front but at a loss as to what to do with the rear end. I know theres a thread somewhere where a guy managed to lift his felicia a few inches  but i just cant find it. At this point im keen for any and all advice, so please drop a message if you know what you are doing and can help. I am aiming for more ground clearance and if at all possible a larger max payload. hopefully not too much to ask, this is my first car, just hoping to build something a little more practical than what i have at the moment.

thanks in advance

Diesel springs on the front and estate springs on the back should do it.

How much lift could i get with the springs? would it be worth using spacers as well?

thanks for reply

There's an old lad with a felicia down the road, who's just had the wrong springs fitted on the front and he looks to have about 4-5 inch of arch gap :D

I'm trying to remember if pickup springs fit in the car spring seats. It's probably as easy just to order a full set of springs for a 1.9D pickup truck if they do.

Just realised, I never asked what engine's in it? The diesel engine is heavy, 1.6 lighter, and the aluminium 1.3 the lightest of all.

Indeed

to be fair i should have mentioned its a 1.9 pickup. Guessing that changes everything?

Yeah, it's about as high as a standard felicia will go. New shocks and springs will help a bit, and you mentioned those spacers.

They are pretty good offroad as they are, especcially if you put some mud and snow tyres on.

Without poly bushed you are going to destry the control arms very fast

Yes you can experiment with spacers in front and rear up front you can also slide the shock a bit out of the knuckle but that is kinda risky,

in the rear you can either make an extension bracket where the shock mount but you will need to drill some holes or just find combatible taller shocks

No, the seats are different, hatchback/estate has coilovers, pickup has standalone spring seats with different spring profile.

There is "heavy duty" rear spring for estate, originally for Vanplus, it should be around 2cm higher than estate spring.

That would make the rear end stiff and oversteer prone wouldn't it?

Maybe slightly. Vanplus had same front springs as estate, so effect should be minimal.

Would the vanplus have dampers with more or less reistance to account for the increased spring stiffness

Obviously for safety reasons

So would the vanplus have dampers with more reistance to account for expected increased payload OR would they have less resistance to make for a smother ride and compensate for stiffer springs.

Well dampers have both compression and rebound settings

The compression would be less damped but the rebound more so

More resistance, they had same rates as Pickup.
