AM I the first person to write off a 207?

Featured Replies

Am leaving shortly for a day's training and test driving the new 207. We have a morning learning about the special new wing mirrors that comply with new EU laws, and help you not reverse over small children. Then in the afternoon we are allowed out on a test track to drive them.

Now of the engine ranges the interesting one is not available until September (joint PSA/BMW effort 1.6 16v turbo 150bhp). Now I can see me ending up in the 1.4 8v pile of **** engine that is in the 206. But I wonder if I am going to become the first person to write off a 207?

I will do a full write up of the car after I have driven it. Wish me luck!

The chances are it'll fall to bits before you have the chance to write it off.......It's French.................................

You're thread title makes it sound like you already HAVE written off a 207. :P Had me worried for a minute.

Don't think bad, and nothing bad will happen. Worst thing you can do is talk yourself into doing it beforehand.

Hope that has not got a practical session with it to test the theory!

hope it isnt my driving instructor teaching you-he told me to aim at the little kids! so i did:DMWAHAHAHAH!

i was hoping for some carnage pictures :(

 You seem to be enthusiastic about your products

Mind you they are French. You might find this article amusing from the local paper tonight:

A prankster has been blamed

for attempting to embarrass

staff at a car dealership.

The joker's antics in swap-

read PUEGEOT, even got a

mention on Chris Moyles'

Radio 1 breakfast show.

He targeted a van parked in

an outside compound at

Sunwin Peugeot in Keighley.

Manager Rob Jones said: "A

and on demonstration and

check.

"It must have happened at

night. It was just a prank."

Jesus French cars are not that bad.

My old BX spent less time in the garage than this f**king skoda.

Yes it's well bolted together, however parts are expensive and when things go wrong a lot of the dealers are pretty useless at fixing them. There is no way I would keep the Octy for 250'000 miles as it would get too expensive miles before it got that far.

Saying that I wouldn't touch a 307 with anybody elses barge pole either. Not *ALL* french cars are rubbish you know.

Indeed - I drove a couple of Peugeot 205s, a Renault 21, a Ford Fiesta (v old), Rover 100 (aka Metro) and finally the Fabia vRS.

Every single one of those cars has had its minor faults ;)

Funny it was old ladies when I was learning to drive. Glad to see they keep the syllabus up to date

Chris

Hopefully you can do us all a favour and write it off - they're horrible! just make sure your not in.........you might have to push it off a cliff or something!!!!

Only joking, my first car was a Pug 205 xs!

Jesus French cars are not that bad.

Your right they are worse!!

To be fair the old peugeot/citroen's were more reliable than the newier ones!

I've had a total of 6 french cars only 2 have been trouble free (the first 2!!) all the rest have rubbish.

E-E I wouldn't worry about it! Plenty more cars out there to replace them!

French cars were fine until they started over-complicating the electrics .....

was that when they started adding indicators....... i have a wee story to tell about my previous megane's indicators......

Maybe so. But the reluctance to accept problems are common is

I spent yesterday at the test track with the 207. Had an absolutely amazing fun day, racing the different engines and there were a coupe of other cars we could compare it to.

Basically if you do not like the looks of the 207, you had better get used to they’re because it is going to be a MASSIVE seller. It is the safest car in the B Segment (12 out of a possible 14 stars), and of the other cars at the event to compare it to it totally outshone them on looks and performance. The other cars we have had to drive and try it against were the FIAT Grand Punto, the Frog looking Fiesta, the Renault Clieo and the Toyota Yaris. I was confused why they hadn’t included a VAG B segment car. All the cars had good points (apart from the Fiat as a plastic bit of the wing mirror fell off, there was a clunk in the steering wheel and the battery light flashed constantly). The new electric power steering was nice, and you could feel all the ABS and ESP on the skid pad at 70mph (). All of the engines seemed a little underpowered, I think because all of the cars weight several tonnes because of the millions of safety features, and all sorts of other crap like an inbuilt fragrance diffuser. There is going to be a 1.6 16v Turbo that is a joint venture by PSA and BMW which should be good, but not going into the 207 until September.

The Yaris under steered badly, and had too many cupboards and things trying to be clever but just confusing. The interior of the Renault was a shocker and the Ford was a bit basic.

Nice car, going to be a big seller. Would I want one? No.

I'm sure it will be a big seller.........................and you will also know the service manager by name and in return he will know how you like your coffee!

Tis my experience of peugeots anyway!

How did they (whoever was running the day - Peugeot?) decide which cars to pit the 207 against? Maybe the VAG car would have been too expensive or not deemed to be a competitor? Surprised there was no Vauxhall competitor either.... :D Sounds like a good fun day though, especially on the skid pan :D

Nothing on this earth will ever stop young ladies buying renault clio's and little peugots.

They must look like handbags or shoes or something.Clever.

I am not sure what made them chioce those cars. Most of them were hire cars (I doubt the company knew they were going to be revved to excess by 300 peugeot sales people over the course of a few weeks)

It is a very pretty car, and women will love it.

I'm glad I'm not a stereotypical female then :rolleyes::D
