Build Times for new Karoq

Featured Replies

Mine is a PCP (only did it for the dealer contribution) and will be paid off in a couple of months depending on the call on our savings.

  • Well... it has finally arrived. 5 and a half months after ordering and 4 and a half months after being built, we picked up our Karoq on Saturday. This time we treated ourselves to the electr

  • Good news!! My car is at the dealers ready to be collected on Friday.. !!! I am beyond excited.

  • I just got an exciting update from Skoda. Apparently my car has now been built and is on a ship underway to Australia. The ETA for delivery has been stated as 14th July 2022. That is almost exactly 11

Dealer hasn't mentioned anything about price increases, if he tries it on I will just walk away.

Picked up our Edition this morning. Paid the price agreed back in May was the price I paid.

How long was it from arriving in the UK until collection at the dealer?

Also, has anyone used Cazoo to sell their current vehicle?  Dealer P/X price for my Tucson was very low, £4k below what Cazoo are offering and £3K below WBAC.  Looks like I'm accepting the Cazoo offer and have asked if they can delay the collection of the Tucson for a week after I accept the quote because I will not be at home in the interim and need to get it cleaned/valeted (it's currently filthy and not been cleaned for 3 weeks as no facilities at home for car cleaning other than a bucket and long walk).

I don't know the timeline exactly. It was at Emden for a couple of weeks, next thing I know it is at the dealer. I'm not entirely sure why, but it took about 2 weeks to collection. Could be the salesman was on holiday. I was in no great rush. Perhaps I should have been, considering the issues I had with my old car. May well post later if i get things sorted to my satisfaction.

Latest from Skoda chat:

Good Morning, we hope you are doing well. We're sorry to say that we will no longer be able to provide you with order updates at this time. Going forward we would require you to get your order updates directly from your Retailer, this is to ensure you get the most accurate information as each Retailer receives communication from our Factory regarding the orders they currently have.

Sounds like the live chat team have given up. Pretty poor service from Skoda.

Update: my dealer says my car (ordered 30 July) has been provisionally allocated build week 8, 2022. It looks as though they are working their way through the unbuilt orders now the factories have re-started production.

Still no news on my car since the "arrived at UK port" message from dealer (arrived UK on 28th apparently).  My current Hyundai Tucson has been sold to Cazoo for a very good price and is being picked up from home on Tuesday so will be car-less until new one arrives. I hung on as long as I could but the expiration date on the Cazoo offer expired today and prices had dropped a bit this week so locked in the previous offer that I got last week and pulled the trigger.  Apparently it takes between 7 and 21 days to get to the dealer from the port.

That’s nuts. You ordered precisely one month after me and you won’t get anything until Feb / March!

While you're all waiting for your cars to be built, I had an email from my local dealer offering to buy my Sept 2019 Karok SEL, 1.5 tsi, DSG, because they're short of stock.  It's worth nearly £2k more than when I bought it 18 months ago.  Problem is, I'd have to spend more again to get something newer, and it's on zero % HP - impossible these days.

Yes, I know once the computer chip shortages are resolved that the market wil rebalance, bu that's a good year away and there'll still be some part of the uplift seen in used pricing

Also, as the supply of 21 and particularly 71 reg cars has been considerably reduced, there will be fewer low mileage nearly new cars on the market, so their prices could be strong.

Luckily I'm not in a hurry as I'll still have about 11 months to run on my current finance deal at that point. I thought I was chancing my arm trading in so early on my current deal. As it turns out, it was remarkably prescient!

Dealer called Friday afternoon and my car is there.  I'm away at the moment so will be picking it up Wednesday all being well.  It was 8 days from UK port to dealer.

For anyone waiting for the Karoq to be built, Skoda UK Media have announced:

"The #SKODA Karoq has fast-cemented its place in our line-up. we've sold 500,000 of the popular SUV since its launch in 2017 and last year it was our second best-seller worldwide.

"The wait is almost over to see the face-lifted model, which makes its debut on 30th Nov!"

Sods law isn't it. I wonder how orders will be handled. Will be they converted to the new model, or will we simply not see the new Karoq until sometime in the middle of next year or longer because they have to clear out the backlog of existing orders.

When I ordered my MY20 Karoq in June 2020, the MY21 spec was announced in July, and I just tweaked my spec to get the new options I wanted. I didn't have a build date at the time, but I don't think it impacted my place in the queue. My dealer also honoured our agreed deal so I didn't have to pay any more for it.

So I would expect the factory to just shift existing orders over to the facelifted model once production starts. At present they are talking about holding a digital launch event on the 30th, and I have asked when the factory changeover will happen.

Chris

PS: I suspect there will be pros and cons about the facelift, with it having a slightly  different grill and headlights, probably less physical buttons inside as it shifts to more touchscreen controls like the Octavia, but added options like matrix led headlights and dynamic indicators.

Sometimes get a transition period, a model with bit of old and a bit of new.  It is quite likely that some parts will change quickly, especially if run out of old design at factory, but they will use up stocks of other parts before making some changes.

Very difficult to give timescale at this  stage, but can always do what it says in tiny print at end of brochure, and ask your dealer for exact specifications.

However do be aware that some things automatically transfer, and don’t always offer a new alternative, eg if paint colour or option or feature discontinued, might not get any new colour or feature that is a partial replacement unless dealer specifically asks for it.  Assume dealer won’t bother unless you push them on all deletions and additions and request copy of order update to show they have been processed.

It would be interesting if they deleted a currently available colour and the dealer wasn't then asked to specify an alternative. What would the factory do?

My car is due to be built at the end of Feb, so not sure if it will be a facelifted model or not. I suspect not, but no doubt Skoda will confirm the timings at the end of the month. I'm not sure how bothered I am about the facelift, but LED headlights would be a worthwhile upgrade.

You get LED headlights now (depending on trim level) and having driven my car from Yorkshire to Staffordshire last night I can confirm they work very well. The auto-dip worked well, and the lights had a good spread to the sides on dipped beam. Yes, the dynamic light assist I had with the Bi-Xenons on my previous Golf SV (which had mechanical masks that swung around to keep the lights on main beam but shield other vehicles) was better, and Matrix LEDs would be nice, but mine will be fine for the amount of night driving I do nowadays. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

So my Week 33 build SEL is now in the UK (status code 40). So fingers crossed I should have it near enough at the end of the month.

And now I've had the official Skoda UK email to say that it has arrived at the dealer. So hopefully another week or so and I will finally have the car.

  • 2 weeks later...

Finally collected my Karoq yesterday after initially placing the order on June 30th. Very happy with it. I mean, it's a grey Karoq :)

BTW dealer mentioned there are price hikes occurring on the 1st of December.

congrats :) I noticed they are changing those configurators packages and prices regularly. It will only get more expensive each month by  a little. Biggest problem is for most is not being to order a car with the options you rlly want, even with those big delays.

The facelifted model won't be available until April 2022, and the visual changes are pretty minimal, so you guys should all be getting the cars you ordered I should think.

And unless you really really need the Matrix headlights, there don't seem to be any serious deficiencies in the Mk1 either as August 2020 added the MIB3 changes.

  • 1 month later...

Our Karoq ordered at the end of May arrived to our dealer Mid-December. Will already open a thread regarding a problem with the parking sensors :). Best of luck to all who still await their order!

Glad I bought the earlier version in Aug20 from dealer stock and avoided a lot of issues cropping up on here!

Don’t even offer the engine choice I bought now.

  • 4 weeks later...

Ordered my Skoda Karoq 4x4 diesel Style on June 3rd received on January 27th.

Finally, I got my car. Good luck to everyone.
