Koni FSD Dampers - Availability?

Featured Replies

After reading the blurb, and many a good review, i feel these are exactly what I'm looking for.

So are they available for the Fabia vRS?

If so, where can I get them from, and at what cost?

If not, can we start a petition to get Koni to develop them?

Why not go the Eibach route....they are available and they work well.

Don't think they're available for the Furby yet. And I believe they are not suitable for fitting with lowered springs as they need the full wheel travel to operate properly.

correct. I was told the same when I was looking at Koni set-ups.

So, stick with the eibachs and be "sweet 'n' lo";)

Let me look into this, can't say much atm, but since I have them would be rude not to enquire and source them.

i've was told 2months ago that eibach have discontinued the coilovers for the furby due to lack of demand.

EDIT oops just realised you're talking bout spring and damper set up

I think Weitec do dampers for the fabia as well as coilovers

Hi

Koni have now got FSD dampers for the Skoda Fabia which includes the vRS

I do not have pricings as of yet , but this is hot off the press from Koni themselves.

They would take about a week to get in.

Let me just say that I think there is nothing but good reviews on these as these are excellent

I checked and there are not THAT many in stock with Koni so if anyone is wanting them let me know as I will chase up the price later today.

Sarah do they work with eibach Pro Kit? Or like mentioned above do you need std springs to get the full travel? I'm sure I've read that golf mkv people use them with eibachs.

doh just read on your site they can be used with springs upto 35mm drop.

Yes you got it.

These have been prooved to be fantastic on other models that we have fitted them to.

I must say we have fitted a few.

One set was fitted to a Mk4 Golf as the owner needed comfort as he had an accident and had a problem with his stomach after.

He called back when he had got home to tell us how pleased he was.

The handling is excellent too.

So heads you win all ways round ;)

If I can help you at all with anything please give me a shout.

There was 9 sets with Koni but I think these could go fast as they fit other models too including the Ibiza

Sarah

Do they definitely fit the RS? The Koni site says 'Excluding RS' on their fabia listing (and excluding the FR on the Ibiza) So have they made an RS specific set now or replaced the line with a 'one damper fits all' fabia one?

This was my concern too...

I want a good damper that will work well with Eibach springs... want to keep the 25mm drop, but I'm looking for an increase in comfort too.

I'd just stick with eibach dampers matey. They're very comfortable and much more available.

Eibach dampers aren't an option. Even Eibach themselves don't recommend Eibach dampers!

Really?

Anyway just expressing my approval of them. I'm very pleased with mine.

Are these little babies adjustable on the car? The other rear Koni's I've seen need the wheel arch liner removing to adjust.

No they are non-adjustable. In my experience Koni adjustment is via an adjusting screw on the top of the McP strut, accessible from the engine compartment without any need to remove wheel arch liners or suchlike.

For the most comfortable ride with Eibach springs I would advise staying with the OE dampers. The most important thing is to trim the bump stops back to the minimum to allow maximum spring travel and minimise jarring.

Just to add eibach dampers are infact Sachs performance dampers. Comnided with std springs they reduce body roll and dive but found the ride to be a little crashy should I say. Wouldn't say the ride is any worse with the springs as well.

Strange how eibach/sachs use the same dampers across the range were koni sport say not for the vrs. Also the koni sport for the ibiza Pd130 model they recommend you increase the front rebound. I assume it to take into account the increase on front weight.

So are these FSD (would love to try a set but other things are more important) designed for the vrs or just the fabia range?

This was my concern too...

Do let me know if you find one, as I'm looking for the same. I have a lot of country roads and B-type roads that I like covering at enjoyable pace, and it seems that these FSD dampers can soak up the small bumps without bouncing off them like harder suspension would, so not only more comfortable but more controlled over 'less perfect' road. Sounds ideal. IF they do an RS specific set that works with the Eibach springs.

I'm up for a pertition

Hi

I have been in touch with Koni and he has double checked with Koni themselves and they have confirmed that YES this will fit.

They did not have the vRS to try one on at the time so they said no as they knew that the Octavia`s was different and that was just to cover their back.

So YES they will fit.

Sarah, I know they will physically fit on the vehicle, but the concern is that the diesel engine weighs a huge amount, and this will obviously effect the damping properties of the damper. As these aren't adjustable my concern is that they won't be any improvement on the OEM dampers for handling or comfort...

tbh the nose weight shouldnt affect dampers at all.. only springs and coilovers

Hi

Yes the springs are the parts that do the work for the weight of the engine.

Dampers are the parts that are to do with dampening.

So these will fit all Fabia`s and will not be affected by the weight.

Hope this helps

Sarah
