Dave, I think there may be something wrong with yours. I've run 130/100 rally bulbs in mine for 4 months, no problems at all. Also run 100w fogs, again, no problems. Blue visions and vision plus cause no problems either. Could you have had water/condensation in the ubit which caused the "smoke"?

Ive had a good look at the headlight and there seems to be a slight mark on the protective backing (like a burn mark) as my tavRs is only two weeks old,did they change the inside reflective backing to plastic!! or did every tavRs come as standard with these headlights as im not sure what the protective backing is made from im just guessing that its plastic due to what happened.

does the 100w rallye bulbs give more light than the standard 100w bulbs?

the rallyes are great drove back from the west country last night on a deserted a303 and it was a pleasure as it was great being able to see so much! the rallyes give distance not width though.....

Dont think so mate, if you close to Prenton on Saturday around 5pm could meet and give you a demostration! The silver stars are superb though when teaching as their range is awesome!

Quick update on how chuffed I am with the Rallye bulbs... ahem VERY!

Also, on the point of heat build up, etc. I had them on last night, without a single dipping needed (it was late and going along back lanes) for about 20 minutes! No problems at all, and I've even been checking the lens' for evidence of damage.

My estimates of range... I was approaching a give way sign at the end of a straight bit of lane and I was getting a bright reflection off the sign from about 300 to 350 yards away. Oh, and they stopped me from hitting a fox the other day too. :nurse: And cats at the side of the road are scared off much earlier. It's quite funny to see the cat's eyes reflecting off the beam from 1/4 mile away and then they dart off, thinking WTF?

350yards.... I was getting ranges of 500yards plus for picking up signage......

Well - I was getting glares off the sign at 350yds... Not sure what the actual "Oh look, there's a sign" range is. 500 could very well be about right. An F'in long way is as good a description as I can come up with.

how much did you pay for the rallyes and where did you get them from? :thumb:
