2019 VRS 245 Oil Service Due Warning will not reset.

Featured Replies

As it says in the title really.  Did an oil and filter change (using correct spec products) and went to reset warning as described on numerous Youtube clips (as below), but warning still shows.  Any alternative ways to try resetting, apart from taking to dealer or finding someone with VAGCOM?

  • Press and hold the long button below the dials labeled 0.0 / SET until the dash lights up
  • Whilst holding this button, turn on the ignition and continue to hold
  • Keep holding the button until “Reset oil service?” is displayed
  • Release the 0.0 / SET button and press it again to reset the service interval warning. The dash will display “Service Reset”

Turn off the ignition and now start the car, you’ll no longer be greeted with the inspection warning.

Is the car set up as variable servicing? At what mileage duration and time did the notification come on?

No idea if set up for variable servicing. Notification appeared a bit before 16,000 km (10,000 miles).

call the selling dealer and check what program it is on.  You won't be able to reset with any key pressing if it is on variable. You'll need a dealer, garage or someone with VCDS to reset or probably preferably change to fixed schedule.  That said just under 10k miles is the right duration for fixed schedule, hence the suggestion to call the selling dealer as to how is was configured when sold.

Thanks. I imported it from the UK, so do not know who the initial dealer was.  I see a visit to my local dealer in my future...

Not sure that matters. Mk1 and 2 will reset to/on fixed servicing if reset using the button technique and only need computer intervention if (re)setting to variable.

Yes, you will probably need to get VCDS or ODBEleven to reset the variable servicing schedules.  There is a way of finding out via VCDS....this is an old link, but I think the principles still apply....
