LED Matrix headlights.

You didn’t have a mobile phone years ago or remote control tv or the internet all of which I guess you would find an inconvenience not having

it’s called technology and times move on and things improve

Are people just airing there opinions on matrix lights?they have every right to do so.when things are new to people it takes a while to get used to them.

Also ofcourse the _need_ for matrix depends on where the driver is driving. If its mostly roads with streetlights, then there's little point to really take the matrix headlights.

I myself would think they are the best option on my car in winters, even if i'd say 80% of my driving is just home-work-home.

Our 2nd car is a Seat Mii electric with halogen H4 headlights. Never needed any better headlamps.

For me personally as i have difficulties seeing at night i would buy the option to  get better light. I had xenon on my car and it was really good. The halogen are just not sufficient for me. So first time having those lights and rly eager to check them out when i have the car eventually 🙄

I was followed for a few miles on a unlit 'A' road last night by what I think was a Octavia though it could have been a Superb - Either way, it had some sort of set up that adjusted the beam throw.

It was able to project its beam throw down the offside of me, lighting up the right hand hedgerow a good way beyond me but cancelling its self out whenever a vehicle came towards us.

Curious thing was, I wasn't able (via my mirrors) to discern any visible change in his headlights when this happened and nor was there any dazzle via my mirrors...........very clever I thought.

That's the matrix on auto mode, when it's full calibrated it's brilliant, but i'm still not convinced enough to leave it on permanently as it's a little inconsistent coming into towns using amber streetlights.

Just had my car a week and I have noticed the matrix lights do change very quickly - almost like flashing lights very quickly - when driving along dark roads and all there seems to be is hedge line and trees in the beam that are changing shape. Nothing really reflective in front. Is that normal behaviour?

Not really. I had an Octavia with matrix lights which had problems. The beams were very twitchy and I found they dazzled oncoming drivers. There's a video earlier in this thread that shows the problems I had.

I've since rejected the car (for this and the various software issues) and bought a VW Tiguan which also has the matrix LEDs. The difference is astounding. I've done a lot more driving with these than the Octavia (eventually I refused to drive that car at night) and the beam is very stable and the blanking cones are resolved almost instantly.

Get a dashcam to record the behaviour and show it to the garage. Feel free to share on here too if you want a second opinion.
