Fabia Mk1 Classic radio facia trim questions

Featured Replies

I'm trying to install a single DIN radio in to my son's 2005 Fabia Classic. It is a MK1 with the "facelift" rear lights which AFAIK makes it the 2004-2007 model, which fits with the reg date.

The car was fitted with the Skoda Symphony radio with a pocket underneath. I have removed the radio and the plastic pocket and two small vertical trim pieces each side of the aperture.

I bought this fitting kit: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171596146244

It does not fit. It is the right shape for the aperture, but the clips do not line up with the holes. The clips on the left side of the new facia do line up with the clips for the small trim pieces, but the ones on the right are different and will not fit.

If I refit the plastic pocket, I am left with what looks like a single DIN aperture and I just need a small trim to go above the radio to finish it. It therefore looks like this kit will work instead: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171993602531 , however the listing says that this is for the pre-2004 model (pre-facelift).

Before I try to argue with the vendor to get the right facia panel, or waste more money buying another one, I want to ask a couple of questions to the community -

  • Has anyone else had this issue?
  • Do I perhaps have to remove more of the dash? (It looks like the RHS part where the clips go in are part of the main dash panel, so I think not)
  • Is it possible I have some sort of "changeover" model with some pre facelift parts?
  • Is it possible that the issue is because it is the basic no frills Classic model? Many of the pictures I have seen of the MK1 dash have a sort of door below the stereo.

Also, one of the front door speakers is rattling - what size are the speakers so I can look at replacements?

Sorry for replying to myself, but can't seem to edit posts (maybe because I'm a newbie).

Not my picture but this it what the dash looks like (attached) - with the cubby below the stereo:

Finally found my thread about this from 2007...

You should be able to download the photos to see what I did but may need to change the file type to jpg

This section of the dash is the same IIRC. My single DIN adapter went in with my Kenwood KDC-BT640U (see my project thread), it was designated for Fabias between '99 and '07. You should be alright I think. :)

Just be sure to make sure you use the right stereo removal keys. I made that mistake, never again.

Thanks - I've had a look at your thread and your adaptor looks like what I need. I'm still puzzled by the fact I seem to have a Mk1.1 Fabia with a Mk1 dash.

It's the same dash for all the Mark 1s, the only difference was the steering wheel, dash cluster, and airbag badge on the passenger side. Mine is a 2006 Ambiente, so it's post-facelift.
