Free Ap in Columbus UK shop on info screen , go see!!! It will change your life !!!

I noticed there was an update for my car the other day - something to do with the shop…

Will go have a look when its updated.

Please tell the new app is a self-clean function. 😉

Are you referring to the fact that the shop is offline?

Not in the UK , still working for what its worth ,( v little)

Its a link to Google calendar on screen. I didnt get it as you have to put in your billing address.

In Slovenia it says (my translation): Loadin gŠKODA Connect products...

and a green spinning circle. No change for minutes.

I got it with the latest update a few days back. Didn't install it though.

:D Sometimes its hard to know if it’s sarkazm or not😂

Has anyone tried or found the solution to the following:-

Within my Google calendar I have multiple calendars created for organising various different categories of events etc (these are still part of the same Google account rather than belonging to and being imported from another account). However when I go into the calendar on the car I only get the main calendar, Birthdays and Holidays as the options to display. Events from all of my other calendars are not displayed and I can't find a place where I can specify that they should.

Any ideas?

Is this an app from Skoda to integrate your Google calendar to the cars infotainment?  I don’t have a Mk4 btw so can’t see it.

If so, what’s the benefit of this app over using Android Auto? My opinion of this type of OEM app is, well, they’re ****. They take something from the mobile OS and make it work less effectively. I kinda wish they just wouldn’t bother. I never used any of the MK3 stuff for that reason.

Or am I missing the point.

It really does my "nut" right in , that time was spent and codes written for a calendar addition to the infotain. When we all know that the base software is F'd and some users are getting new head units while other dealers are unaware of any problems.

Today my car on the M8 on ACC set to 40 in heavy traffic did not brake when the car in front did and came up with the brake alert. FFS is this something else i now need to worry about. Previously i enjoyed the slow then pick up of the system and gave it my full trust. As i said to the Mrs " It will brake far faster than a human" So what then happens when i do indeed rear end someone. Sorry insurance it wasn't me in a Shaggy style retort!!

It has happened to me too. I do not trust it any more. And even if it does brake it leaves it to the last second - not gradual like I would do myself.

So I anticipate it and get on the brakes earlier and more gradually.

Of course that disables the ACC so it won't start off automatically when the lights change, but that is good too since it accelerates very slowly, irritating the people behind me.

I reenable it later after I am almost up to speed.

In spite all of that I DO like the ACC for tootling along the freeway when the traffic ahead is bunching up and driving below the speed limit.

It makes me a better driver, tolerating going slower instead of following my instinct to get out in the passing lane and overtake the slowcoaches.

Anyone got this app to work? I keep getting error messages saying service not available or that my phone has no Internet connection.

I had it initially, but not since then.

Got an update to the calendar app yesterday, it's now working however it looks like it's been made in Windows 3.1, looks awful.

Also the car alarm decided to go off late last night for no reason, checked the connect app and it reported 'a movement on the outer casing'!!!  Also got an email stating 'Online Anti-Theft Alarm was triggered due to an action performed on the outer shell of your vehicle OCTAVIA VRS on 23.11.2021 at 23:25'  No notification or information in the car itself.

Skoda really need to sort out this software, both in the car and the connect app.  The connect app had an update last night on Android too, it kept crashing today so uninstalled and reinstalled and still the same.  Eventually started to work but alarm notification has gone, no history available.

Hi,

I had the same issues with the new app and resolved it by going into the permissions for the app and granting it everything it wanted.

The outer shell was probably a cat or something lol

Anyone used this Calendar app to launch the SatNav to direct you to an appointment?

This from the online Škoda Connect Portal ...

"Get your in-car Google calendar to easily navigate to your next appointment and schedule your agenda on the go."

Does actually work? Could be handy if it does.

Got the answer to my own question.

In short, it does work.

However, a little tedious. Any appointment has to be in your main Google Calendar (not any additional ones you may create), and the calendar app in the car is a little slow to load. When it does, a nice list of entries shows up as you’d expect and any with an address has a green arrow symbol alongside it. Tapping that symbol loads the address in to the SatNav system and away you go.

How’s that tedious? Well in itself it isn’t, BUT the car MUST be stationary else the link from Calendar to Nav app wont work. That means that even a passenger can’t do for you. Fair enough as the driver shouldn’t be poking around in calendars and Nav system whilst driving though.
