Resetting Service Interval Light. Yeti 1.2TSI

Featured Replies

Having just serviced my Yeti at exactly 36,000 milews, I now want to remove the obstinate Service Warning which appears when I start the car, telling me that my service is due in 11 days.

So, I've followed all the advice, which was to put on my Hazard lights, hold down the 0.0 button, and then switch on the ignition.

That then showed Skoda Information System, followed by Service in 11 days,

Then reverted to the Settings menu.

So I scrolled down to Service. 2 options Info and Back.

Info shows Service in 11000 miles or 11 days. then reverts back to Info and Back

No option to reset it.

Wasted 20 minutes doing this over and over again. no difference.

Tried again NOT using the hazard lights...Success....Reset Service Interval. Pressed YES and it all reset.

Or so I thought.

Now, when I turn on, it says Service Overdue 0 Miles 0 Days.....

It's NOT overdue....I've just done it.....so can someone suggest how I get rid of this stupid message.

The car will always be serviced in accordance with proper intervals, but not by Skoda. I live a long way from a dealership, and I see no reason to pay somebody else to do work that I am perfectly capable of doing in my own well equipped garage. It takes me a week to service my car, attention to detail is more important than time, as I'm retired. I won't have it rushed through an over busy service department, unsure if the work has even been done, and then presented with a massive bill for the dubious pleasure.

Anyone got any ideas. I don't have VCDS, but am happy to buy one (NOT the Ross-Tech which is far too expensive for my own occasional home use)....Wish they did a Home Use option. But if that's the way forward so be it. Recommendations please  for a good unit, which will reset this service interval.

You a step short. If it like my Roomster you do

1. Ignition off

2.Press and hold (00) button

3. Keep pressed and turn ignition on

4. Press the button next to it which looks like stacked pages

5. Done.

That resets the Service Interval.

Putting on the hazards while doing the above resets the Inspection service.

Note: That resets for a fixed service. Flexible or variable servicing needs a laptop

Thank you Edbostan.

The car is on variable servicing, so I will have to look into ways of killing this message.

I do have a laptop, but the RossTech stuff is too expensive for my pocket.

I will research.

Many thanks for your help. It's appreciated.

I am retirement age in France, approaching the UK retirement age, what you wrote above has further strengthened my resolve not to retire and bears out what I see all around me.

If you service it yourself does it matter if you revert to fixed service notifications?

Not sure what you mean JR... but as I have plenty of time to service my car, it makes sense to do it properly.

Unlike most dealerships where fitting as many service jobs into a (usually) 7.5 hour working day after breaks to maximise profits is the prime objective.

Nobody on this planet is convincing me that a FULL service can be done in 7.5 hours.

So not quite sure how you've interpreted my post.

Original question still unanswered.

As to retirement.... Here's a thought for you.

All the plans you have for today, and all the plans you have for coming years are just that. Plans.

If you die today..... Your plans don't care.

If you CAN retire, then do it.

Too many people flog on to 'please' an employer or business, only to die from stress or overwork doing it before having any retirement at all.

Now..... Do you have a solution to my post? 😊

Maybe get the VCDS person you contact to change the service strategy from variable to fixed then in the coming years you will be able to reset as said above without involving anyone else?

I'm not sure if Carista now includes the ability to change from fixed to variable yet, you could check that out on their website.

I've got one car that I've never bothered to change to fixed servicing, and that age/platform of VW Group car can not be easily reset using VCDS but that I think was due to a change that VCDS needed to make to benefit newer and other platforms - though Carista sorts that out easily, or I could if I changed that car to fixed servicing!

Both my Yetis are changed via the MFD between the dashboard dials. When stationary, select MFD, Settings, Service, Reset. Will take a few days and/or a bit of driving to revert to "fixed" time and distance.
Good luck.

I interpreted your post as you spending a week to service your car, I am interpreting this one as you believing that its impossible for anybody to do a full service in less than 7.5 hours and nobody is going to convince you otherwise so I wont try.

Regarding employers and business, the last time I worked for an employer was 1984, the last time I worked for customers was 2004, now I work for nobody but myself and my interests, I work hard, usually 7 days a week because I thrive on the physical exertion and mental stimulation, I have taken 2 weeks holiday since 2005 and precious little before that with the exception of my adult gap year backpacking and working around the world in 2004.

There is zero stress in my life and I do not overwork, the confinement was like an enforced retirement and was very bad for me, that how I know I am far from ready to retire.

If ever it takes me more than 7.5 hours let alone a week to do a full service on mine or someone elses vehicle I pray someone will do me the kindness of taking me to the pasture with a shotgun.

The bricklayer working on my building plot is 68 years old and looks and acts no more than 50, he has  2.5 labourers working hard to keep up with him, the half is because one is his son who does the straight runs of brickwork between the corners that his father lays 50% of the time labouring the other 50%.

Thanks to you all.

Freedie. Unfortunately the newer (mine's a 2017) don't have that reset option as you describe. Only INFO and BACK.

I don't know anybody round here with VCDS but I'm still looking for ways to remove this service warning which is more of a nuisance than anything else as I physically document all my servicing, and have no intention of selling the vehicle anyway.

So thank you all you guys for your help. If I DO come up with an answer to it, I'll post to help others.

And finally JR...

You know, for a retired 75 year old guy with the usual number of nasty life related injuries, both mental and physical, and a great interest in my servicing, I don't think I do so bad.

So your life history is not relevant to me. Not in any way. It was just a personal attack.

And all I asked, was a question........So please don't respond to me again. Thanks but I won't reply to you again.

You'll understand one day.

Be kind. Not confrontational.
