Stalling 1.9 BXE

Featured Replies

Long story shortish

do about 750 mile per week normally

current mileage 160k

6 months ago stall car a couple of times in a couple of days once slowing over speed bumps and once not changing down for a corner.

put this down to my driving.

then four weeks ago car stalls for no reason a couple of times a day only when warmed up normally when slowing for a corner or traffic lights

(tried my vcds light and it not communicating with controllers  tried it on another car a superb and its not working either

for speed i got a elm wireless code reader del same day and that connected but  no codes,

so i hit the forums.

first new cam sensor ( cheapest part first)

seemed better for a few days but was still lumpy but stalled on day 3 and 5 and 6

next the wiring loom for the injectors

again slight improvement but still stalling (old one was brittle)

put my cheapo odb scanner interface in connected to car scanner android app still no codes except when i changed it to freeze frame it shown DTC 0202 which i interpreted as faulty  electrical circuit cylinder 2 . as i had already changed the loom i bit the bullet and ordered a reconditioned injector and finished of putting the car back together this morning

car started  ok i haven't drove it .just idle after 35 mins it went lumpy then stalled  .dos not restart immediately but when it does i runs at idle  for between 35 and 55 mins before running rough and then stalling.

any ideas anyone i am getting desperate, Thanks

Have you checked the in-tank fuel pump.

Could be cutting out, then a bit of vibration restores it again for a while.

I think if the tank is three quarters to full the tandem pump copes ok, but if quarter full or less it may well struggle to get full pressure.

ignore that i sent wrong file

Have you checked the ASV/EGR for excessive build up?

Checked/replaced the fuel filter?

If you have 2 cars exhibiting similar behaviour it may be dirty fuel.

Pop the diesel filter open and see what it's like in there. The lift pump slowly died on mine and when it finally went, it would run until the filter emptied, then if I refilled the filter, it ran fine for a few minutes until it ran low in there again.
