It will be interesting to see how it fairs on track.

Not sure whether the track test will tell us much about either car. Heres what they say:

"Despite being three grand cheaper, the Skoda is built on the same chassis and has the exact same engine inside...but it is bigger. So which of these will lap our track at Anglesey quickest...backwards!"

This would imply a test in reverse !!!!

I do hope they mean going the reverse way around the track and not in reverse as like you say that would be a total waste of time!.

We can deduce, however, that since the Octavia vRS is the competition prize it must have won this show's shoot out. That in itself is a good thing.

I'm pleased they are reviewing it as I was hoping that one of the terrestrial car shows would give it their verdict.

Ahh Stiff Needle, wonder how many of the cars he stuffed into the wall while doing stupid tricks on the day of filming. Very tallented driver, but not relevant for road use of a car.

I hope its done properly and not pish like when he drove the focus ST with one hand,

it was not worth the 5min of veiwing and totally defeated the pupose of

what i would call a head to head shootout.

I think they are grasping at straws as far as features are concerned. I'd much rather they just drive the cars like hell round the track and tell us which is the quickest/best to drive.

Oh, and for what it's worth, it wasn't all bad with Tiff doing it in reverse... at least he had to decency to tell the viewers the Golf is about a second quicker round the track when facing the right way. Nothing a bit of Jabba/Revo/Amd/CC/Star/HaveIMissedOneYet? can sort out

It looked good.Sure he said that in reality there is hardly any difference between the two.

Liked his comment about having a soft spot for the Octarrvia and people should think hard about a golf being 3k more
