replaced after 4 years

-> AGM warranty replace

first signs started about 10 months earlier

(Start-Stop almost all the time weren't work)

-> Battery monitoring

now i have disabled Start-Stop by additional memory module

-> Memory Module for Start-Stop

Our Skoda Greenline stop/start stopped working years ago and the garage blamed our driving style.  Replaced the battery recently (died in 2020 lock down) and now works perfectly.

Strangely stop/start generally worked on my car right up until the day the battery died completely. It works more often with the new battery (unsurprisingly).

Have you tried charging it with a smart charger such as a CTEK? If possible leave it on for a few days even after the charger says it's complete.

I have a smart charger with AGM and pulse recovery but wondered is my battery AGM? It says EFB on it...? It charges up to near 15V.

Around 14.7 volts is normal for either type, which is a little higher than normally used for standard lead-acid batteries - my Ring smart charger just lumps EFB and AGM types together for charging. Both can be used for stop-start

I wouldn't complain, many of us want to actively disable it. It's the daftest eco trick the car industry has pulled. The feature was not developed by an engineer that's for sure, it's almost the reverse of thrashing your engine from cold.

You can buy a wee cable off AliExpress for £16 delivered that permanently disables it.  Plugs in under trim beside gear shifter.

Save you money on new batteries over the long run.  Added to that you'll never be caught out trying to get into a busy roundabout as the engine / DSG dithers

Thanks for the two fixes to stop the smart alternator and stop start.

I'm going škoda will give me s new Battery under warranty. I just thought that i use eco mode which freewheels all the time so the alternator is on idle. It does say 15V most of the trine as i have a usb charger with a voltmeter plugged into the fag lighter when i turn off it drops to about 12V

Booked into Skoda. They say they'll charge and test the battery and replace if necessary in half a day.... My concern is that they'll say it's ok but i know it'll be below 12 v by tomorrow and autostart will fill again.

 Are batteries defo covered by the warranty, I've never had one before?
