Standard H7 headlight question.

Featured Replies

Hello could someone possibly confirm the tang position when replacing the main beam headlight bulb H7 as it seems on the service they've replaced or removed it for some reason and not replaced it correctly as i can see into the headlight from the front and the bulb doesn't seem to be seated centrally when compared to the other side and my beam is off. Thank you.

The bulb will only go in correctly in one orientation.

The flat bit with the tang on is towards the top, but not quite vertical if I remember correctly, check the other lamp if you are not sure.

Did SWMBO Yeti when the drivers side decided to blow just before it’s MOT (you can’t write it), luckily I have a bulb kit so a quick swap out. Easy job especially compared to the DRLs which require a fingertip contortion act!

In view of the number of very badly set up lights you see see around I think that some people think it will go in whichever way they like. It's not all down to bad aiming.

I remember many years ago a work colleague had anew Capri ( I said it was many years ago) and one of her headlights was all wrong. the dip beam was all over the place. I told her this and she returned it to the main dealer where they dealt with it by adjusted the aim so that the pool of light was just a couple of feet or so in front of the car. I had to sort it out for her, the bulb was not seated correctly.
