What tyres?

Featured Replies

Mine came with dunlop sport maxx RT and I've stuck with that brand and type. They tend to get cracks on the walls after about two years. Why suggestion for longer lasting tyres without breaking the bank. Thanks

goodyear eagle asymetric 5

I have the 3's that I am going to change after 56000km.

they are long llasting, comfortable, quiet, fuel efficient and great grip and don't break the bank.

Surely you mean "What, tyres??

What’s your budget? £50 a tyre, £100 a tyre..?

It will come down to your budget and what you want/need from the tyre.

I have run the Primacy 4 from Michellin and had no issues with them, they are a summer tyre but have driven in all weather with them without issue.

I had 20k out of a set of fronts before I had to change them due to a puncture.

Not much love, but mine can with P Zero's from the factory which, for the main have been fine. Just hit 35k and the fronts are at the point I need to replace them - they would probably take me to 40k.

Will almost certainly look to replace them with the Goodyear AS5's (although would have no objection to fitting older AS4's if the price was right).

If you've got a 1.4 SE-L, as it would appear from your posting history, making the assumption you have 17" wheels with 225/45R17 tyres i'd probably be considering...

Michelin Primacy 4 / Primacy 4+
Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2

Bridgestone Turanza T005

Hankook Ventus Prime 4 also appear to be reviewing fairly well but not sure they're widely available here yet.

I put Goodyear Eagle F1s on my 1.4 Elegance, don't like "eco" tyres because they get their low rolling resistance by having hard compounds which compromise grip.

Just had four Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 fitted for around £390 from Black circle, all in price and they seem great.

Whilst they're clearly not UHP tyres, I don't think it's correct to paint them as 'Eco' tyres in the same bracket as things like the Michelin EnergySaver+.

There's a balance to be struck with all these things and I'd certainly never advocate cheaping out on tyres but these all review very well and aren't going to present 'ditchfinder' type compromises on grip.

I was under the impression eagle f1s were the uhp model?

Efficient grip performance are the more eco tyres?

I was talking about the tyres I listed in the first place - they're obviously not UHP stuff but they're not dedicated 'eco' tyres like an EnergySaver could be considered, they're what I think most would refer to as 'Premium Touring'.

I don't think Goodyear have a direct EnergySaver competitor in the 'eco' tyre market at the moment.
