Are secondhand prices dropping?

Recommended Posts

I'm on a couple of  Facebook car groups and there's a feeling that there's a start of 2nd hand prices starting to drop. I've not noticed this on Skodas, at least the higher spec Superbs that I'm looking at.

What do you all think? But now (if I can find the spec I want) or wait a few weeks/months?

*typo, "buy now"

Some 'Asking prices' are ridiculous and many are not fooled by the false 'Shortage' of used cars while there are dealerships, forecourts, auctions and private sales cars a plenty about.

Sales might be cooling on anything that not fuel efficient.

Out of curiosity some months ago I requested a ‘webuyanycar’ valuation for my Octavia, which was £1800 above what I’d paid for it, and since then they have been telling me of new, upward valuations. (I have no intention of selling it, btw)

But a couple of days ago they emailed me to say I should accept the latest, as prices would be going down, and that their next valuation would be lower.

A ruse to get me to sell, or an honest appraisal of the market?  Answers on a postcard, please.

It looks like the less economical cars and bigger vehicles are starting to drop in price, the smaller city cars seem to be holding out from my observations.
I think with the current cost of living, people are now cutting costs with fuel, tax, insurance and monthly payments where they can.
