Warp factor 9

awesome driving + car

Remember seeing one of those going through Grizedale on the Lombard rally, nothing prepares you for the speed and noise - AWESOME

WOW!!!!!!!!

I like the way they kick the back out to set up for the corners.

'kin hell thats fast  :D

Speachless.

I thought he'd lost it at the begining of the video, but nope....

The Integrale in standard form was bloody quick, but hell that's nice.

I bet it wouldn't beat some of tha Fabias though:rolleyes:

S4 Delta....Group B monster......much different to the rally cars based on the Integrale...mid mounted engine....for some reason I think it had a tubular space frame chassis as opposed to the normal car based chassis.

These video clips are much more entertaining than the telly.

yup - thats the ****** !

awesome thats the dogs danglies

Group B = sex wee.

Don't think he was doing that off pace notes though :D

Awesome car, excellent driving, and what a divine noise.

WOW... that's fast, the driver must have balls of steel!!

I remember seeing them in 85 just before they were banned. Saw them through the forests of wales and on a "mickey mouse" at Chatsworth.

Loved the soiund \of th e old Grp B cars  especially the Audi - wastegate going like there were a load of budgie stuck in the engine bay oh and the flames

Saw a road going S4 on the road the other day in a sort of burgundy red - stunning!

Funny the reaction this gets from those not old enough to have seen them live. I have a video all about the grp B stuff and have tapes of the 85/86 seasons.

Yoof of today don't realise what it was like standing in the freezing cold in the middle of the night to watch one of the monsters hammering it through a forest.

awesome in every way possible :D

Are the modern WRC cars slower/as quick/quicker than the old group B cars on loose surface stage?

I'd imagine that 20 years of chassis development must count for something.

Too young to remember group B (born 1982) - but watching vids like that - I say BRING 'EM BACK!!

Not a lot in it I'd say. Straight line the old ones would kill the new ones I reckon. Similar weight, but nearly double the power in the old ones  Didin't the Sport Quattro run nearly 750bhp, with the Delta S4 running even more than that in tarmac spec? IIRC nthey were both rated to nearly 900

As you say though, traction and chassis dynamics have moved on, but I reckon it would be close.

Can't see the vid:(

Wasn't there something funny about the roll bars in lancias leading to the ban?

Nah, it was the death of Henri Toivenen in Corsica that did it :(

He was a stunningly talented driver

Some ofthe Gp B cars had similar power to the race-day F1 cars of the day!
