Rusting wheel hubs and brake callipers

Featured Replies

Is it common for this to happen on a 2 year old car? All four wheels are showing a lot of rust on the wheel hubs and brake callipers (if that’s what they’re called).

Already getting the wheel nut caps replaced as their faded really badly.

Wife’s year older Fabia doesn’t exhibit this and none of my previous cars ever did at this age.

cheers

I believe it’s normal.

All my Yetis had it and the Kodiaq is the same.

If you can’t bear to look at it, then a quick coat of brake caliper paint will sort it.

Simon, if you ever get the chance to see brand new cars coming off the transporter when the centre caps are off or take a look at the compond where they store brand new cars, you'll see the same thing.  SEAT, SKODA, VW and your £90K Audi's are all the same. It's only surface rust but admittedly looks terrible.

Looks terrible indeed, especially on a car so new.

will have sort myself I guess and not an issue addressed by warranty.

Given how many brand new Kodiaq's have spent several months sat through the winter in the open air awaiting parts, then I'd imagine the issue is only going to become more widespread.

Some are showing signs of rust after being stored before being sold but what makes it worse and causes plastic nut cap's and valve dust cap's to loose colour is the cleaning agents that car wash staff use.  Sometimes they don't dilute these as recomended in the hope that it will clean better and faster !

Yes my nut caps are also faded badly. Dealer is replacing them for me, which is great.
