Space saver tyre and rim size

Featured Replies

Sure the info is on here but can’t find it.

What size is the tyre and rim for the 16” space saver?

Is it on the tyre pressure chart on the car. ( behind the fuel filler cap ) ?

Thanks, AG Falco

Forgot to say this is for a VRS - I have the full size steel as the spare.

See above, space saver is listed as 125/70 R18.

205/55R16 fitted to a 6.5Jx16 ET50 rim.

205/55R16 isn't called a space saver.

125/70R18 is a space saver.

Does the space saver fit the VRS? What is the rim size and ET?

Just switched to 16’s following your advice and much more comfy but want to use a space saver for the spare to give me more storage space.

The 205/55R16 fitted to a 6.5Jx16 ET50 rim should fit in the spare wheel well.

If you get a puncture, you will need somewhere to put the punctured wheel.

The Octavia MK2 didn't come with a 125/70R18 space saver.

If you fit a 125/70R18 space saver you have pressure to get the punctured tyre mended quickly. By using a 205/55R16 as a spare tyre, you can take your time.

There's no cost saving in using a space saver, as they usually cost more than a standard 205/55R16.

Just checked my flap and it doesn’t show the spare on the sticker. Also only shows 17” and 18” tyre pressures even though the spare is 16”. Looks like the factory spare option was ticked looking at the original invoice.

Be it a Space Saver or a tyre / wheel to save space it is for an Emergency and being an odd one out you need to reduce your speed if it gets fiited.

Put the pressure below what the max pressure shows on the tyre since it is in the boot for when needed and if you fit it you can let some air out.

Reset the TPMS and drive on safely until you get the tyre fixed or replaced.

40 psi will not do any harm as a pressure to have it at.

Apologies for reviving an old thread. Would all  6.5Jx16 ET50 with a 205x55x16 fit a mk2 VRS? Not sure if the code is just a stud pattern or the wheel size? Want to make sure it'll clear the front calipers  as it's smaller than standard VRS wheels.

Looking on ebay for a slightly munched one about £50 tyre included.

Thanks guys :)

The Octavia MK2 VRS uses 312x25mm front brakes discs, so 16" rims will clear the front brakes calipers.

Thanks Carlston,

I'm thinking of going for a standard VW/Skoda alloy wheel which is the same stud patter and tyre size I think
