How to close the electric windows when the engine is off?

Once the power is off, the windows remain closed and I have to tur on on the power again.

Is this normal?

On my older Fabia MK2 the electric windows were closing with the engine off, buy using the key in the door lock.

Does the car have RF remote central locking? If so, try holding down the lock button if you want to close windows.

Thanks, I'll try.

@Brutusfrom my experience over the past 22 years of owning VW Group cars, it is normal, there is a short period after switching the ignition off when the window controllers are still awake, and so you can open/close the windows, I've forgotten how long that period is, maybe only 5 minutes.  Okay it is slightly annoying to need to then switch the ignition on and off again to re-enable the window controllers - but that does not cause me any great concern/inconvenience.

 Yes. 😲

Same on my 2018 Citigo. 😲

But it does on my 2009 Fiat Panda. 😀

Oh, I'm surprised @AGFalco, does it not work on face-lift mk2s (either)?

Don't know.

You also don't have the one shot window up function because there is no anti jam sensor's.

( unless you have electric windows on all four doors when it will do it on the drivers one only. )

4 electric windows on fabia mk3 2016.

The windows only work after pressing the start button. The engine does not have to be ON.

Bad use case: you drive, you arrive in the garage and stop the car but forgot one window open.

To be able to close the window the car needs to be started again.

Lon press on the remote does not work either.

Is it the same for all? Maybe fixed by a software updated?

From the owner's Manual (2016/11). - https://manual.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com/Models

"The electrical power windows can only be operated when the ignition is switched on."

"Only version 2 [4 powered windows, I think] of the power windows is equipped with the power limiter (does not apply to the passenger window)."

"The electric power windows are deactivated after the vehicle battery has been disconnected.  After connecting the vehicle battery, the system is activated as follows.

› Switch on the ignition.

› Pull the top edge of the button and close the window.

› Release the button.

› Pull up the respective button and hold for 1 second."

"Switching on /off ignition in vehicles with starter button

› Press the» Fig. 114 - [B] button, the ignition is turned on / off.

On vehicles with manual transmission the pedal must not be depressed to switch on / off the ignition, otherwise the engine will start.

On vehicles with automatic transmission, the brake pedal must not be depressed to switch on / off the ignition, otherwise the engine will start."

Thanks, so it is not a bug, it is a feature!

If you push the start button but don't put your foot on the brake pedal will this turn the ignition on but not start the engine?

^ As above. ^

You come to the garage,  stop the engine, open the door, the inner lights are ON but forgot one window open, cannot close it.

Yes, you need to press "start' again without starting the engine.

In my opinion, as long as the inner lights can be switched on without the ignition, the windows should also respond to the open/close button.

But, as stated in the user manual, this is a feature/limitation, not a bug

If you don't open the door, I think I'd expect the window controls to remain active for 10 minutes after engine off. Check whether that's true on your car.

I wasn't suggesting that he was wrong, just checking what exactly he'd tried. :)

My wife's April 2015 built Mk3 is the same - annoys us both, I at least have the excuse that my car has wind up door windows (and swivel) so I'm not used to this modern car tyranny.

I checked this on my wife's August 2015 VW Polo SEL today, and yes after the ignition is switched off AND then a door has been opened, well at least the passenger door was opened then closed, the electric windows will not function unless you cycle the ignition, from then on, the electric windows stayed "working" for quite a long time, I stopped checking after 6 minutes if no doors are opened.

Well perhaps VW are giving some premium to their named marque - 2015  Fabia Mk3, 1.3 SE, engine off and no doors opened the electric windows (front only on my wife's car) do not operate until the ignition is turned back on.  ETA: and only work when the ignition is turned on, not for any period after ignition is off.

I wonder if there's something that could be changed in an adaptation channel of the BCM in Fabia mk3 with VCDS?
