Sticky Tyres...............

Which Tyres are the Stickiest..........[ For every day use ]

I'd recommend Toyo Proxes T1-R for everyday fast road use, and are fairly cheap.

There are so many reviews on these tyres here, but they are fantastic in all conditions from my experiences.

I have a set of Toyo Proxes T1-R on the front of my Octy - damn they are good :D

:iagree:

How long do you want them to last?

The followingt is a list of very sticky tyres, in descending order of stickyness (most sticky at the top) All are road legal:

Pirelli P Zero Corsa

Michilen Pilot Sport Cup

Dunlop Supersport 9000

Pirelli P Zero C (not available in many sizes any more :( )

Toyo also do some "specials", think they are the 888 or summit similar

Kumho Ecsta V700 K6A

You might want to try Pirelli P Zero Neros, not quite as grippy as the lot above, but very very good. Or some Kumho Ecsta MX KU15

Or in "normal" tyres....

Toyo T1-Rs

*or*

Kumho Escta KU31s

got the kumhos to replace the toyos and they are about on a par in the wet, and better in the dry  - also cheap as chips...

I can vouch for Neros being very good, just bought another 4! Didn't even consider anything else as I was so satisfied! :thumbup"

I use the Michelin's, they are very good but not cheep and trust me I need them.

Falkens stick better on the road than any other brand I know...especially the Azenis range. Don't think the last as long as toyos though.

Just thought id resserect this thread.

Anyone had any experience of the Toyo 888's?

Ive just ordered 4 for my fabia, and two for the Octy.

Not directly. But a lot of people run them on Westfields. Don't expect to get much life out of them... 3-4000 road miles as been know to finish them off.

So I reckon you'd be doing well to get 2000 miles on a Fabia.

All this assumes they are the same compound, I'm not aware of other compounds for the 888 yet.

Thanks matey. Ive used the Kumho V70 soft and hard compunds before, and 4k saw them down to 1.6mm, with a couple of track days left in them.

The Dunlop super sport "race" tyres on the front of the Octavia lasted 7000 road miles, and grip was amazing, but engine mounts/exhaust suffered from the tremendous grip.

Just wondering if anyone rated them for grip, and/or could compare them to any of the above?

And how do they perform in wet/damp conditions?

Ones covered in toffee are pretty sticky!:D

Sorry...........................................................coat has been picked up on the way out!

I'm still running on T1-S toyos at the moment, and I'm very happy with them. I think by the time winter comes though I'll be switching to P Zeros on the front, as T1-S don't seem to like cold weather..... Very much a tyre tha works well once some serious heat has been built up in them. :)

Used to use Yoko's on the mini, didn't last long but like glue. Don't know what sizes they make either, useless aren't I?

They are way sticker than anything mentioned above. I have got Yoko A048R fitted to my Westfield and they are similar to those. Only tyres I know of that are noticeably stickier are Avon ACB10, Formula Ford wet which is also road legal in certain sizes/compounds, and Avon CR500, which was specifically designed for the Caterham R500.

And how do they perform in wet/damp conditions?

I can only comment on the A048R, but the 888 are supposed to be the same. In 'normal' wet conditions I find them better than the Yoko A520 I had fitted to the Westfield, but I always had the feeling that the Westfield was never heavy enough to push the tyre through the water to the surface to find the grip. Where as the A048R, being softer seems to be able to. However, in 'very' wet conditions, with lots of standing water/puddles/etc then they get a bit interesting because they simply don't have enough tread or depth of tread to cut through the water and end up riding on it instead.
